All-New 20 Felt Flowers to Make

I love working with felt so was delighted to be asked to review All-New 20 Felt Flowers to Make by Jo Lochhead which has been published by SearchPress. This is part of a fun series of pocket-sized books, which each contain 20 brand-new projects.

All-New 20 Felt Flowers to Make

The 20 projects include eucalyptus branch, easy-peasy greenery, poppy, sunflower and daffodils. Felt is always so easy to work with and comes in a variety of gorgeous colours. I was sent four sheets of felt to make my chosen project – felt succulents. I love succulents but have trouble looking after them. I knew that the felt succulents would last for ever!

The instructions were easy to follow with lovely, clear photographs. I opted for one rounded leaf succulent, one spiky leaf succulent, as well as a spiky ‘air plant’ succulent, and a couple of loopy flowers too.

There was no sewing involved, instead I used my glue gun to turn the felt strips and pieces into my succulents. I have never used my glue gun in this way before but it was a quick and easy way to craft.

It was a very satisfying way to spend an hour, and quickly create a little planter of my own. The book contains tips to make your felt flowers more realistic, and  you can add some blusher to the edges of the spiky leaf succulent if you have any.

Once I had made each succulent I gathered some stuffing and an old ceramic pot and put everything together.

I re-arranged everything a few times to make sure they fit and you couldn’t see any stuffing. My little planter sits in my desk but would make a sweet gift too.
