My bump seems to have doubled overnight! At 27 weeks Second Baby is measuring 35.5cm long and weighs over 760g. It’s still really active which is giving me peace of mind as I’m in the middle of a loooong gap between maternity appointments. My last scan was on the 25th July and my next scan appointment is the 15th September followed by an appointment with my consultant the following week. Fortunately I’m keeping happy and healthy so no pregnancy worries at the moment.
I’ve noticed a couple of things which are different from my first pregnancy:
The second trimester bloom I’ve been counting on to get me through those first few weeks just didn’t materialise.
My hair has stopped falling out but doesn’t necessarily feel as glossy as last time.
I’m feeling quite frumpy and have already grown out of the maternity clothes I had saved. I don’t have much money for new clothes so am on the lookout for some decent clothes.
I’m also fairly dead behind the eyes come 7 pm from running around after a toddler.

Things I did religiously first time round are now just wishful thinking – pelvic floor exercises, drinking plenty of water (I never have time to go to the loo, let alone make a cup of tea), and can’t remember which side I’m supposed to sleep on at night. With no regular midwife appointments I don’t have anyone to nag me about any of it so I’m just muddling along.
The end of my second trimester is fast approaching!
