Vintage wooden scales

I’m always on the look out for vintage and second hand toys for Edward. I really love wooden toys and would prefer him to have quality vintage items to the mountains of plastic toys and games that we actually have.

I was really excited to come across this vintage wooden toy scales. It needed a little tlc but after a quick sand, varnish and lick of paint it looks as good as new. I haven’t been brave enough to let Edward play with it yet as I know the wooden weights will soon disappear!

That’s lovely, only problem I find with wooden toys is that they hurt so much more when dropped accidentally on one (or lobbed across the room by the little darlings!)

Wow! Where did you find those? I love those! I hate all the plastic toys that are out there for kids these days! If only there were more of these!

Quite agree re wooden toys – I much preferred them for my son when he was little. And they’re all in the loft now, in case I ever have any grandchildren (won’t be for a while as Will is still only 11!) x

Gorgeous. I’m with you all the way on the wooden toys. We once found the most amazing wooden fire engine and firemen still in the box for £10 at a boot sale. It was immaculate and still sells in shops for about £50 plus the cost of the firemen.
Wooden toys are so much more tactile. xx

What a fantastic toy. Beautiful and educational.

I too had this idea that my children would only have wooden toys but the plastic won eventually!

I have a set of antique wooden scales with little wooden weights, very similar to the one shown in the photograph. Are you looking to buy items?

    Thanks
