Nappuccino

A couple of weeks ago Edward and I went along to a Nappuccino organised by a lovely lady from The Washable Nappy Co.  Ages ago a friend gave me a leaflet about real nappies and I was interested to try them out for many reasons:

  • 8 million nappies are thrown away in Britain every day and 90% of those end up in landfill
  • each baby uses between 4 -6000 nappies and these will fill about 160 black bin liners
  • children in real nappies tend to toilet train on average around 6 months earlier than those in disposables (!)
  • there is the potential to save £££s

There was also the added incentive that my borough had joined the Real Nappies for London Scheme which meant as Edward was under the age of 18 months, we were entitled to claim an information pack and voucher. The voucher could then be redeemed for nappies (and accessories) or a nappy laundry service (for a limited period) within six months of receiving it.

After a short talk we looked at some of the many real nappies, wraps, inserts and liners. It was like a whole different vocabulary!

This is what I came away with – a few samples of the most popular brands. We’re looking forward to trying them out over the next few days!
