Win a bundle of spine tingling family films for Halloween

Win a bundle of spine-tingling family films

Posted on October 19, 2018 by jenny

Yay! We’re on half term. And relax.

I don’t know about you, but I have been looking forward to half term pretty much since the children went back to school in September. We haven’t planned much because we’re all pretty knackered. We’ve been busy at work and school and need a break from routine.

One thing we will be doing is settling down with a family-sized bucket of popcorn to rediscover the classic Halloween titles which have stood the test of time. There are some spine-tingling films which are firm family favourites year after year.

Spine-tingling family films for Halloween

Skip the squabbling, grab the popcorn and get ready for the ultimate Halloween which will have the seal of approval from the whole family. We have a monster mash of titles up for grabs, with one lucky winner receiving copies of The Addams Family, Casper Meets Wendy, Book of Life, and The Secret of NIMH.

The Addams Family
When a man claiming to be Fester, the missing brother of Gomez Addams, arrives at the Addams’ home, the family is thrilled. However, Morticia begins to suspect the man is a fraud, since he cannot recall details of Fester’s life. With the help of lawyer Tully Alford, Fester manages to get the Addams clan evicted from their home. Gomez realises the two men are conspiring to swindle the Addams fortune and that he must challenge Fester.

Casper Meets Wendy
After drawing the ire of a nefarious warlock named Desmond, Wendy the Good Little Witch and her aunts seek sanctuary in a special resort that caters to the supernatural. There, Wendy meets Casper the Friendly Ghost, who is vacationing with his quarrelsome uncles. Despite their families’ prejudiced warnings, Wendy and Casper become fast friends. Before long, this high-spirited duo decides to team up to take down the bullying warlock.

Book of Life
In the Mexican town of San Angel, Manolo, Maria and Joaquin have been friends ever since childhood. Although their lives have taken different paths – Maria was sent to Europe, Joaquin joined the military, and Manolo studied to become a bullfighter – one thing remains the same: Manolo and Joaquin both want to marry Maria. Little does the trio know that battling husband-and-wife deities have made a high-stakes wager on the love triangle’s outcome. (We love this film – see our review here).

The Secret of NIMH
Mrs. Brisby, a widowed mouse, must move her children out of their home in a field before the local farmer starts plowing. Unable to leave because her son is ill, Mrs. Brisby seeks the help of nearby rats, who have heightened intelligence after being the subjects of scientific experiments. She receives an unexpected gift from the elder rat, Nicodemus. Soon Mrs. Brisby is caught in a conflict among the rats, jeopardising her mission to save her family.

Available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download.
