Have you noticed that your child’s play is mirroring the real world at the moment? Perhaps I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I recently overheard my children playing and there was a lot of ‘social distancing’ going on with their toys. I know that it’s probably their minds trying to understand the situation and I hope it helps them deal with their emotions about not seeing their friends and family, not going to school and all the new rules when we do venture out.
Playmobil figures are perfect for this kind of small world play, the figures are moveable and ideally proportioned for small hands. Role play is a great way for children to foster their emotional, social, motor and cognitive skills and, of course, the story telling possibilities are endless.
In the Corona Virus crisis, many people working in medical care, emergency services or retail have been making sure that our everyday life doesn’t stand still.
