London moving

White walls

One of the only things we haven’t yet unpacked is our pictures. Our walls are pretty bare but we both think it’s so important to get right that we’re not in a hurry.

I’m the first to admit I’m not very artistic. I didn’t enjoy my Art lessons at school, in fact, I actively tried to get out of them each week by having Cello lessons! Luckily for me I’ve improved since then and my husband has a really good eye too.

Our new house is lovely and light but also bigger so we’re looking at investing in some new pieces of art. I really like the artwork from these photogram artists for something a bit different. Our house lacks any contemporary art and I’d love to include something up to date to make sure we’re bang on trend!

I have been looking online during my spare time and found a great selection of colourful artwork. We haven’t yet decided on colour schemes but most of the pictures I have seen would look great on any wall or room. I really loved this image by the artist Alessandra Minotti. I love art on buildings and this appealed to me on so many levels.

You all know how I love to write about our house, it’s full of vintage finds and unique pieces we’ve collected on our travels together. One of my favourites is by a local artist who specialises in well-known London cityscapes, venues that were socially and historically important, neglected or about to disappear. Which is how we ended up with an amazing print of a local landmark; an Art Deco sign on a disused public baths building, before it got over-enthusiastically restored.

We love London so many of our pictures are connected to the city. We have a framed map of the Underground stations which the toddler loves, thanks to his obsession with Baker Street. We also have a collection of vintage jigsaws and letter cards which we’ve made ourselves to give the children’s rooms a personal touch. However, there’s always room for more!
