Vintage wooden items

Posted on May 29, 2011May 27, 2024 by jenny

I’ve been on the look out for some vintage wooden items to decorate our home. I love old advertising and I’ve found some great items. First up is this vintage crib board advertising Wills’ Golden Virginia tobacco. My grandmother worked for Wills’ before she got married so I thought this would be a nice link to her.

This little polish brush is in great condition. I love that it is proudly stamped ‘British Made’.

Do you remember when people had little boxes next to their phones so you could make a contribution for using the phone? They belong with rotary dial telephones and physical locking mechanisms (used by my mum to prevent my sister from spending hours on the phone after school). Oh how times have changed!

The ‘Easy-Out’ thrift box has instructions printed on the reverse telling you how to get the money out.

And finally a book stand. Another perfect charity shop find. It’s great for balancing a recipe book on in our tiny kitchen šŸ™‚

I’m linking up withĀ Flea Market Finds, Magpie Monday and Thrift Share Monday – please follow the links for more lovely vintage discoveries.

Lots of fab memories – especially about the ‘phone lock’ – my sister worked out how to take it off though x

Lovely wooden pieces. I have never seen one of those telephone boxes; how cool!

I adore old advertising items too, it’s lucky that you found one with a connection to your family’s history! The phone box is neat, I’ve never seen one in person before. My grandmother used to tell me stories about them though and how her sister used to put ‘slugs’ (fake coins) in the box to trick it!

My Nan used to have one of those boxes by her telephone!

    Love the shoe polish brush.

    Thanks for linking up x

Fab finds. I don’t think a telephone box would get much money in it now, but someone should design one for internet usage – I could make a fortune with one of those in my house šŸ™‚

I love the phone money box, I also remember locks on phones with dials, these days kids have their own mobiles, so much has changed in a generation. šŸ™

Love how the wood theme continues right through your post. Like the money box best and then the scrubbing brush.
    Well done you!

Hahaha, My Mum had a phone lock too but me & my Brother knew how to use the phone without removing the lock. Mum ended up putting a pay phone in which we couldn’t fool, lol.
    Great finds!
