A while ago I saw a brilliant image on Pinterest of a Christmas tree made of vintage rulers. I thought I would attempt it this year and have been buying up old wooden rulers and cribbage boards whenever I see them. Thankfully you can get them for a few pounds and I seem to have amassed a lot!

How to make an upcycled ruler Christmas tree:
I traced a rough shape on a piece of paper of the shape I wanted then arranged the pieces that I wanted to use, trying to choose interesting features or wording as the focus on each line. Then I cut each piece accordingly.
I felt bad cutting through them, especially when they had the name of their previous owners scratched on them!
Then I left it to dry overnight with a few clamps in place. Here’s a close up so you can see some of the details. This is my favourite Christmas decoration, it’s about 10 inches tall so I will be looking for somewhere safe to display it (out of the reach of my children).
