days out Local Review London Ruislip

Things to do at Ruislip Lido

The weather gradually improved over the Bank Holiday weekend. The first day was wet so we were happy to spend it indoors at the local shopping centre. Sunday was better but we still spent a lot of time indoors, this time at Ikea seeking some storage solutions! Come Monday we were all itching to get out and about so we packed the car with the Bugaboo Bee, scooters, buckets and spades and headed to Ruislip Lido to tick another activity from our Summer Bucket List.

The Bugaboo Bee was perfect for coping with the Lido as the terrain quickly changed from paths, to sand and woodland. It coped admirably and was also incredibly useful for carrying the unwanted jumpers we were all wearing as it took a while for the sun to come out!

After a cup of tea at the beautiful cafe at the newly opened Woodlands Centre, the children hit the beach and play area , or sand pit as my 3 year old called it. They had lots of fun before we headed off to Ruislip Lido Railway for a trip on the 12 inch guage railway.

My train-mad son absolutely loved the 10 minute ride. TheĀ  train line runs through the woodlands skirting the lake from Woody Bay Station beside the beach, all the way back round to Ruislip Lido (Waters Edge) Station.

Then it was time for lunch at the pub before heading home. I would definitely recommend a trip to the Lido at any time of the year. We are so lucky it’s on our doorstep.

We went there too for the first time over the holiday and had a great day. We’re only down the road in Slough but for some reason have never been before!

I used to go there with my grandparents as a child. Such lovely memories. I haven’t been back as I was worried that it might not be the same as I remember. Maybe I should give it a go x

I’m so glad the weather improved for you and you were all able to get out and about! The Lido sounds like a great day out and I can see how the children enjoyed themselves by the lovely photos. Thanks for linking up and sharing your family fun with Country Kids.
