The Weekly Edit {Week 16/2026}

Starting my week with the Weekly Edit is a ritual I’ve kept for years. It’s my favourite Monday morning anchor—a chance to slow down, celebrate the ‘small wins,’ and gather the smiles from the week behind us. Part reflection and part record-keeping, it’s my way of documenting our family’s adventures before the next chapter begins.

Last week I met up with my mum, my sister and two of my nieces (one with their new baby) for lunch. We had a lovely catch up and cuddles with the baby.

My latest Craftpod subscription box included a recipe for a rhubarb, lemon and ginger cake. Surely the inclusion of fresh rhubarb would make the cake healthier? It was a delicious combination and made for a really moist cake. I used the leftover rhubarb to make a rhubarb and blackberry crumble which was delicious.

We had a weekend away to Bath for some shopping and eating. We left the oldest teen at home for the first time and it was good to spend time with the youngest. She loves to shop so we did a lot of shopping, and ate at Côte for the first time, somewhere we’ve wanted to try for a while. Bath is a lovely size to explore in a day so walked all around the city and saw the Abbey, the Roman Baths, the river and the Royal Crescent. We squeezed in a trip to my favourite bookshop, Persephone books, where I picked up three new books for my collection of Persephone greys.

We’ve taken the kids to the American Museum in Bath a couple of times and it has a lovely textile collection, amongst other things. They had a great exhibition called Kith & Kin: the Quilt’s of Gee’s Bend. I recently did a jigsaw featuring the quilt’s of Gee’s Bend so I was excited to see some of the quilts in real life. They were vibrant and irregular and so different to the quilts I’m used to seeing here in the UK. I took lots of photos for inspiration, and my teen even showed some interest in making her own quilt.
