exploring The Gallery

The Gallery: Week 14 – still life

I’m having difficulty keeping up with the prompts for The Gallery but I’m really enjoying the opportunity to look at all my photos so I will persevere.

Crossbones graveyard, Southwark

Some months ago we headed to Borough Market for the morning. Down a side street we came across the memorial gates to the Crossbones graveyard, an unconsecrated graveyard dating back to medieval times. It’s thought that it was used as a burial ground for local prostitutes. I love the way the gates have been used by both men and women to leave their own messages, flowers and decorations. A great hidden corner of London!

I’m really inspired by the graveyard. I am new to London. I just discovered it recently and did a blog about it, then found you through the tags! It’s not the history that facinates me but the reaction of the present day people. Of local relevance reflecting heroism so close to home.Great post hope you enjoy mine too: http://wp.me/pUZTD-jI
