I love Christmas and I love Star Wars too. We’ve booked tickets to go and see Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi this weekend. My 6-year-old asked if anything was showing at the cinema but I said no! I really want to watch the new film as much as my husband and son. We’ve had so much fun with Star Wars crafts at home that I thought it would be fun to share a round-up of my favourites. 10 Star Wars Christmas decorations to make Easy BB-8 droid decoration from the gingerbread house This year we have a red…

My 7 year old is really enjoying his lessons in the computing room at his new school. In Year 3 they start to learn Scratch which he’s really excited about. He loves computer games, especially Minecraft, Cars 3, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2 and anything Lego. We’ve played around a bit with Scratch at home, he can make a sprite walk across the screen and move around. It’s something he loves to do with his Dad and it’s great to see them doing something together. Now the children are back at school I have started to get some play prompts ready for them when they get home. The first few days they just wanted to play on the PS4 or watch YouTube. In understand they’re tired but I really don’t want them to get in the habit of switching on and zoning out. My 7 year old loves to create, I guess that’s why he loves Minecraft, so I left out some smooth stones and Posca pens. These are great for drawing on almost any surface and we use them quite a lot. My son…

My children have embraced Star Wars Day as they do Easter and Christmas. To them it’s completely normal to decorate our little indoor seasonal tree with Star Wars decorations. This year we decorated our little tree and made a Star Wars Day wreath! Decorating for Star Wars Day We hung the little Star Wars toys which came with Kinder Eggs which both my children collected. They were the strangest mash up of a figure and vehicle I’ve ever seen but each one came with a little hanger – perfect for hanging on a tree! We managed to get the complete…

Since having children it feels like I’ve embraced Star Wars a little more each year. This year we are celebrating Star Wars Day with decorations and hopefully some food! My 7 year old is the biggest Star Wars fan, despite my attempts to introduce other things. Now I just embrace it along with him, and know far more than I need to about Star War characters and the galaxy. To bring it back to my comfort area I make sure we do plenty of Star Wars crafts! Thank goodness for Pinterest! May the 4th is Star Wars Day although it…

Now in its sixth year, Star Wars Reads, a celebration of Star Wars and reading, has returned with a month-long campaign throughout April. Last year I wrote a post about my son. The only books he would read were Star Wars related, with a few Angry Birds and Minecraft books thrown into the mix. I really thought a year later I would not be writing this post but guess what? He’s still the same. Slightly bigger perhaps but still only reading Star Wars books on his own. Together we have managed to read a few Roald Dahl books, we’ve just finished reading Matilda. And…
