    Are you a power scourer?

Are you a scrubber, a scourer, or a soaker when you do the washing up? I’m a soaker but Vileda are doing their very best to convert me with a new Power scourer range. The new ‘Extra Power’ scourer is for super tough dirt, and the ‘Non-Scratch Power’ scourer has been designed to look after more delicate surfaces. The ‘science’ bit = the new 3D structure with scrubbing nodules provides a better cleaning performance whilst the smart abrasive sealed surface prevents dirt from getting trapped, allowing you to rinse the surface with ease. We’ve been using the new scourers for…

    Review: The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Every parent had heard and read The Very Hungry Caterpillar books with their children. It was one of the first books we bought when we knew we were expecting and Edward loves the story. Portmeirion have produced a range inspired by the children’s classic, the range includes both child friendly ceramics and adorable keepsakes. We were sent a melamine three piece set, consisting of plate, bowl and cup, to try. Each item features some of the colourful illustrations of Eric Carle. Edward has his own set of plates and bowls so I wasn’t worried about his using this set. After…

The Making of Us by Lisa Jewell: a review

In a hospice in Bury St Edmunds, a man called Daniel is slowly fading away. His friend Maggie sits with him every day; she holds his hand and she listens to the story of his life, to his regrets and to his secrets. And then he tells her about the children he has never met and never will, conceived with women he never even touched. For of them, apparently, two boys, two girls. His legacy, he calls them. Lydia, Dean and Robyn don’t know each other. Yet. And they are all facing difficult changes. Lydia is still wearing the scars…

    Ella’s Kitchen and the ELC

Last week Edward and I were invited to Westfield to learn more about a new partnership between Ella’s Kitchen and the ELC. They are working hard to ensure that everyone is hungry for fun! Every special stage 1 and baby brekkie pouch is currently wearing a bib which gives you 20% off at the Early Learning Centre plus the chance to win £100 worth of toys every day! We were lucky enough to meet the founder of Ella’s Kitchen – Paul Lindley, and we chatted to him about how he came up with the idea of Ella’s Kitchen and how…

Review: This book is totally rubbish

We were recently sent a copy of This Book is Totally Rubbish to review. The title made me laugh and actually relates to the fact that the book is filled with eco-friendly activities to do with your children. The book contains lots of activities which can be made using the contents of your recycling bin and help illustrate how everyday items can be recycled and re-purposed. It follows the adventures of Maggie, Rose, Oscar and Bentley who have a “totally rubbish day” where they reuse things and invent new stuff to play with. Each idea starts with a list of…

    Review: Baby Sensory

I love being offered products to review but we really really enjoy the opportunity of going to new events where we can learn something or try a different experience! So when we were offered the chance to attend a baby sensory class I was excited. Baby Sensory provides hundreds of sensory development activities that are great fun for parents and babies to share in the vital first year. The classes include fibre optic light shows, bubbles, bells, musical fun, baby signing, puppet shows, amazing light balls and so much more. Classes are aimed from birth to 13 months with separate…

    Baby blankets

When we were preparing for the  arrival of our new baby we shopped around for beautiful things that would keep him warm, comfortable and look good. We ended up with a selection of blankets, which all offered something a little bit different. We were recently sent a blanket to review and we have been using it over the last week or two, we even took it on holiday with us. As you can see Edward loves it and has been carrying it around with him and snuggling up with it whenever he can. The blanket has been through the washing…

    Twinkle tog wearable quilt review

With Edward turning the grand old age of one I was thinking about moving him out of his sleeping bag and using a pillow and duvet. We were offered a Twinkle Tog wearable quilt to review and I was happy to try it as I didn’t quite feel ready. When Edward was a newborn we swaddled him but from about 4 months we used grow bags to keep him warm at night. The twinkle tog is a similar concept – to keep them safe and warm but with the added freedom of being able to move their legs around. Quite…

    New shoes

Edward was lucky to be sent some lovely Pre Shoes to try. Edward loves them and has worn them every day since they arrived because they stay on his feet! At 11 months Edward has as many pairs of shoes as I do but he’s worn very few on them more than once, usually because they don’t stay on his feet. The pre shoes however are a firm favourite. Most importantly they are comfortable. They are made of soft leather with an anti-slip suede sole. Secondly they stay on. They are a simple slip on (hooray, no laces or buckles)…
