    Free Sunflower Life Cycle Colouring and Writing Book

    Every year we plant sunflower seeds in the hope we will have a stunning display of sunflowers. Every year they seem to get bigger and bigger. This year we have more time on our hands so we turned our wooden pallet mud kitchen into a planting station. It felt good to tidy it all up, sort out our plant pots and seeds and spend time outside. Wooden pallet planting station This year I bought a few extra seed trays and different types of sunflower seeds. I didn’t know there was more than one variety but we bought a pack of…

    Make your own leaf monsters this Autumn

    I’m sure I should be sharing some of our Halloween crafts with you but I’m just not quite done with Autumn yet. Yesterday we had a slow walk home from school as we were all admiring the gorgeous leaves. We walk past some beautiful trees and you can’t help but stop and pick up a selection of falling leaves. A few weeks ago we made a lovely Autumnal sun catcher with our collection of leaves. The colours changed so quickly but I love having the children’s art work up around the house, so it stayed up for a good few…

    A gardening and nature crafts box for kids

    I’ve been a little busy since the school holidays started which meant a few subscription boxes have turned up over the last few weeks and remained unopened. I’ve had to cancel most of ours as I just don’t have time to open them which is such a shame. However today we had some time to explore the August mud + bloom subscription box. This is a fun gardening and nature crafts box for kids. The August mud + bloom gardening and nature crafts box for kids I really love the idea of this box. My 6 year old just loves to…

    Petal mermaid nature craft for kids

    We have a beautiful magnolia bush in our front garden. The petals are a deep purple colour on the outside and a lighter pink inside, and the bush has recently been in bloom. When we came home one day we noticed that the petals had been falling off (already!) so we picked them up to take a closer look at them. My daughter loves mermaids and I thought the silky smooth petals would be perfect for crafting with. I drew a rough outline of a mermaid on a sheet of card, and she glued them along the mermaids tail. The…

    Autumn leaves sun catchers craft for kids

    It’s been a while since we made any sun catchers but, along with the conkers my children keep picking up, they’ve brought home a lot of leaves too. We have a very short walk to the school gates but it seems like we walk past a lot of different trees. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to learn more about trees and leaves. Autumn leaves sun catchers craft for kids We used: fallen leaves picked up on our way to and from school white card contact paper coloured cellophane sheets scissors First we picked the leaves which were whole and…

    Sycamore seed faces

    The signs of Autumn have been around for a while – conkers growing, blackberries and shorter evenings. I love Autumn so I’m pretty happy to embrace it all. I noticed lots of sycamore seeds around the park so picked some up incase we could craft with them. We actually came up with something very simple – sycamore seed faces! We used sycamore seeds and card face blanks from Baker Ross (although you could easily draw your own faces). We also used a glue stick, some coloured card and wool. First my daughter glued the sycamore seed on where she thought it…

    Tuff spot fairy garden play

    I think a tuff pot must be one of the best products I ever bought. It gets used a lot, especially in the warmer months, and is the perfect size for both my children to use together. At the weekend my children got out their Fairy Busy Box for some small world play. The weather was lovely and warm and it was great to see them setting up the tuff spot for some fairy garden play. Our Fairy Busy Box is actually overflowing (like every other toy box) but this meant they had plenty to keep them busy. It contains…

    Frozen flowers play {A-Z Play at Home}

    Now our garden is in full bloom it’s been fun to use some of the flowers in our crafting. Every week we have been joining in with the A-Z Play at Home blog hop. This weeks letter was the letter I which immediately made me think of ice. The children love making ice, using ice and playing with ice. We wanted to give our ice play a little seasonal twist so picked some fresh blooms from our garden for some colourful ice play. We used: heart shaped plastic trays from the recycling bin fresh flowers from the garden water Frozen…
