I felt a bit emotional yesterday. My 11 month old is growing up in leaps and bounds and I can’t help but feel happy and sad at the same time. She’s been giving us loads of problems lately – first it was off her milk completely, then off her food, then waking constantly in the night. However, in the last week or two (fingers crossed) things have improved. I’ve made a huge effort to give her more finger food as she prefers feeding herself to being fed, she’s drinking milk and water from a cup herself and she’s sleeping better.…

My 11 month old has white blond hair, a pair of sparkling blue eyes and a wicked smile. It seems like everyday she gets mistaken for a boy and it’s all my fault. You see, I’m thrifty and dress her in her brothers’ cast-offs. Most of which are blue. If you saw a child in blue you’d probably assume it was a boy, wouldn’t you? It’s not a choice based on gender decisions, or trying to confuse old ladies. But one based on economic necessity and plain old thriftyness. I can’t bear to give away clothes which bring back happy…

I can honestly say we love Little Tikes so I was delighted to be asked to review the 3-in-1 Trike with DiscoverSounds Dashboard. The box was surprisingly small considering it converts to three stages and it was easy to put together (according to daddy). You don’t have to worry about storing lots of pieces to convert the trike as all the pieces are really well thought out. My children are the perfect age for this trike. The 10 month loves it as she can be taken for a ride whilst playing with the interactive dashboard. The toddler has also been…

Tots100 and Ratedpeople.com have challenged us to makeover a room in the most creative way we can think of. The timing is perfect, given as how I have moaned before about our lack of space. Our 10 month old still sleeps with us and I haven’t enjoyed sleeping through the night since she was born. So, our plan. Our front bedroom was originally two bedrooms but converted to one when the loft was converted and a staircase put in. My husband works from home so the room is his office and our guest bedroom. We would like to turn…

Little Sis was incredibly lucky to be sent the Little People Disney Princess castle from Fisher-Price which is suitable for ages 18 months – 5 years. It was easy to assemble (according to daddy), it came with stickers to put on the castle and some of the accessories, and needed batteries (3 AAA batteries to be precise). I have to be honest and say the children have never watched a Disney film but this didn’t bother them or seem to stop their enjoyment of this toy. Both my children loved the Disney Princess Castle which is great as it really…

I was delighted to be asked to try some products by Organic Monkey who make nappy balm, scalp oil for cradle cap, belly oil and massage oil. We tried their Cheeky Monkey Cheek Rub oil and Rock the Cradle cradle cap oil. My 10 month old has been teething for months but, just like her older brother, her teeth are v e r y s l o w at making an appearance. In fact they are being so slow that it’s putting my husband off having a third baby, gggrrr. Anyway, I’m happy to try any teething products as I…

Last week we were invited to a lovely party to celebrate the family classic Dear Zoo turning 30 in 2012! In case you’ve never read it, it begins ‘I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet. So they sent me an…’ A series of unsuitable animals are sent by the zoo which are all sent back. Finally after thinking very hard, they send the perfect pet! Big Brother and Little Sis put on their cleanest clothes to attend the party and had a lovely time. They listened to an amazing story teller, were given a dog made from…

To compensate for the fact the poor 8 month old has to share a room with us I thought I would decorate her cot. Our bedroom is in the loft conversion so, unlike the rest of our Edwardian terraced house, it has a really modern feel. Her cot is a simple one from Ikea in plain white so I wanted to give it a little makeover with a cross stitched heart mural. I love the idea of translating cross stitch to fabrics and furniture and have seen some lovely work by Eline Pellinkhof which inspired me. First of all I…

I was invited to take a look at the Kiddicare website and choose some items to review. Established in 1974, it is the UK’s leading online nursery retailer. I always have a mental list of things the children need and was really pleased when I sat down to browse the Kiddicare website to find everything I needed! We needed a small step so the toddler could easily access the kitchen sink. We found the BabyBjorn Safe Step which has rubber feet and a rubber mat so it’s non-slip. It allows the toddler to reach the sink to wash his hands,…
