    Invitation to play – a beach themed mud kitchen

    Our homemade mud kitchen has been getting a lot of use this year. To mix it up a little I thought I would set up an invitation to play for my children, using some of the treasure we brought back from the beach earlier this year. Every year we try to have a holiday by the sea and this year we brought back a lot of it with us. As we were packing up the car the children were still slipping sea glass and shaped pebbles into their bags, desperate to bring a little of their holiday back to London…

    Pokémon Go Poké ball pom pom craft

    You can tell the weather must be bad if I’m back with another post today. Have your children caught the Pokémon Go bug? If so, I have a quick and easy craft with our Pokémon Go Poké ball pom poms. In case you didn’t know, a Poké Ball is a type of item that is critical to a Trainer’s quest, and is used for catching and storing Pokémon. Pom poms are always fun to make. You can make your own cardboard circles from an old cereal box which is what I used to do when I was a child. Or…

    DIY paper clip bookmarks

    We really enjoy taking part in the monthly Project: recycle and create blog hop as it gives us the chance to try different things. This month the theme was Scrap Paper and we decided to make bookmarks. Both children are taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge so this was a fun craft for them to make their own bookmarks. Equipment to make DIY paper clip bookmarks: Large paper clips Scrap paper Scissors Sticky tape How to make DIY paper clip bookmarks: We have lots of scrap paper from magazines, old games as well as vintage papers I’ve found in…

    FIMO winners’ medal craft for kids

    A few weeks ago we got our FIMO collection out for some after school crafting. We wanted to have a go at making our own FIMO winners’ medals – fun for both Sports Day and Olympic crafting. The kids love FIMO Kids as you can use it straight out of the packet, there’s no need to knead it in your hands before you use it. My children are both impatient but also lack those fine motor skills so this is a great product for them. How to make a FIMO winners’ medal We picked our colours and rolled out the…

    7 mud kitchen essentials

    Our outdoor kitchen has been a big success. Our garden isn’t huge but the children love to be outside so we’ve given them several areas where they can play, explore nature and grow things. I think I enjoyed putting the mud kitchen together just as much as my children enjoy spending time with it. Today I’m sharing some of the mud kitchen essential items which we use the most. 7 mud kitchen essentials 1 A mud kitchen can be as simple or complicated as you like. Before we built our mud kitchen from old pallets the children were happy to…

    Hank from Finding Dory wind sock craft

    We’re so excited about the release of Finding Dory this month. It feels like we’ve been waiting for this film for a long time. We’ve been watching Finding Nemo to get in the mood and thinking of ways we can incorporate the new film in our crafting. Everyone’s favourite forgetful blue tang is back at last for ‘Finding Dory’, which sees her go off on a new adventure to search for the family she forgot about. Waking up one morning, she sees a picture in her head – and comes to a shocking realisation. She remembered something! It seems impossible,…

    Paper plate laurel wreath craft for kids

    We’re surrounded by sporting events at the moment which has had a great influence on our crafting. So far this year we’ve had Euro 2016, Wimbledon and the Tour de France 2016 and we’ve still got many more to come. Did you know that athletes in ancient games didn’t receive medals like they do today? Instead they received a wreath crown made of olive tree leaves, or later from the leaves of a bay laurel. I thought we should try and make our own paper version so today we’re sharing our paper plate laurel wreath craft for kids. Paper plate…

    Getting ready for the summer holidays {Baker Ross review}

    We really are on a count down to the Summer holidays now. The children have a few weeks left and the calendar is filled with parents’ evening, class swap days and (my least favourite day of the year) Sports Day. Whether you’re at home or abroad you may be on the look out for some things to keep your children occupied. On our recent trip on the cruise ship Ventura I packed a few little craft kits in our suitcase. They really didn’t take up much room and were perfect for that crafty fix my children seem to need on…
