I think I’ve mentioned that the only room in desperate need of a makeover is our living room/dining room. It’s a long room which runs the length of the house and is lovely and light. We’re in the process of deciding on a new sofa so hopefully that will influence a colour scheme soon or vice versa. You know I love to make doll quilts. They are pretty wasted on my 2 year so I’ve gradually been sneaking them away from her and washing them with the idea of hanging them and having my own quilt gallery wall. It was…

A couple of week ago I treated myself to a trip to the Cath Kidston flagship store at 180 Piccadilly. I say treated myself because I know I can never visit without buying something! I like all the stores, I’ve visited a few *ahem* but the flagship store is my favourite. Despite being in a modern building it’s decorated with modern vintage, obviously. I particularly love the display of board games in the Kids section which as you know I’ve done in our own house. The walls of the shop are lined with distressed wooden doors and make use of…

I don’t know about you but my fridge is covered with magnets – often holding up the latest letter from school or shopping list. There’s always room for more so I was happy to review some personalised photo fridge magnets from PicStick. The site is easy to use, you can upload 9 images from your computer, Facebook or even Dropbox. They come in a grid of 9 photos which you can easily tear apart. For some reason I received two sets of my chosen photos but fortunately my sister was here when they arrived so I was able to share…

I love a challenge and was excited to be asked to take part in the latest one from MoneySupermarket.com, to improve a room of my choice within my home. As you all know we only moved into our new house last month so it was pretty difficult to decide which room to improve. I settled on Little Sis’s room as she moved into her own bedroom when we moved house. Considering she had shared with us from the day she was born, the transition to her own room went completely unnoticed by her. I miss her little sniffles and snores…

Did you know that today people around the world are celebrating Earth Day to demonstrate support for environmental protection? The theme is – What everyday small changes can we make to help make a difference to the environment? To help celebrate I’ve been offered an Earth Day kit which one of my readers has the chance to win. The fun kit includes: A blackboard made from recycled coffee cups A cardboard rocket for the children – and eco-paints so the whole family can get involved too A selection of P&G products Big changes don’t have to start with grand acts;…

Ok, so I had to visit three Tesco stores but I finally got my hands on an Orla Kiely Scribble Pear design reuseable shopping bag. I mentioned back in November that Orla Kiely has designed a range of bags exclusively for Tesco. They are made of juco (a material technology that combines jute with cotton). The bag is lovely and strong and cost £4. The Scribble Pear design is the first in the range. For each bag sold a contribution of 50p of the sale price of each bag will be divided equally and paid to CLIC Sargent Cancer Care…

I’ve had a great Bank Holiday weekend, just the right amount of seeing friends, DIY and doing cool new stuff. We went to Walthamstow Stadium on Saturday night to watch the Greyhound racing. It was so much fun and I even broke even! We also finally had the time to do the Parkland Walk from Finsbury Park to Ally Pally. It was such a hot day we had to make some emergency refreshment breaks along the way at the Boogaloo in Highgate and the Village in Muswell Hill. And today I made my first item in my lovely new sewing…

I’m sure I’m not the only person to be 100% freaked out by the phenomenon that is facebook. Friends Reunited – fine; Twitter – fine; MySpace – fine; but facebook is just too freaky. I am tagging people that I haven’t seen since High School, Uni and previous jobs that I haven’t spoken to in years. And, quite frankly, if we haven’t spoken in years, surely that was for a reason?! The more time I spend on it, the more friends I find, and subsequently find out what they are up to. It feels like school all over again. Am…

We’ve had a busy few days; watched Keane play at Wembley, my sister visited, saw the Kylie exhibition at the V&A and caught up with some old school friends. Today we braved Brent Cross and spent over 4 hours shopping for curtain fabric! Weekends should be as long as weeks!
