    Easter treats from Playmobil

It’s been a while since I posted anything Playmobil related. You may remember we’re Playmobil Playologists which means we get to share Playmobil news here with you. As part of our partnership with Playmobil we were sent two of this year’s Easter treats from Playmobil. I know Easter is a few weeks off but yesterday my children opened them. For some reason the toy inside each egg is illustrated on the packaging which totally ruins the surprise. This is the only thing I think could be improved. Big Brother received a red egg from the Playmobil Pirates range (4942), Little…

Hot Cross Cookies and the Colossal Cake Sale

Over the weekend we have been eating our way through a pile of Hot Cross Cookies from a recipe I found on Whitworths Sugar website. They were easy to make, half an hour from start to finish, and a great alternative to the traditional Hot Cross Bun typically eaten at this time of year. I left out the white chocolate pieces as we all eat far too much chocolate at this time of year (!) but I did decorate them with white chocolate with a little help from my son. The cookies were delicious so would be a great bake…

    Dyeing eggs for Easter

I know my children don’t have a clue about Easter but that hasn’t stopped us enjoying some Easter crafting. Yesterday we tried our hands at decorating and dyeing hard boiled eggs. This was actually quite quick so the children were able to follow the whole process. I thought I’d share it here as my two really enjoyed it. You will need: eggs Scotch Magic Tape scissors vinegar food colouring {STEM activity} Dyeing eggs for Easter First hard boil the eggs. I boiled them for 10 minutes then placed them in a sieve and ran cold water over them for a…

How to make your own Easter eggs

I think it’s fair to say we’re enjoying our Easter holidays. The 4 year old was in desperate need of a break from his nursery routine (he attends for five afternoons a week) and we’ve been crafting, to the beach, seen family and friends and for the first time, made our own Easter eggs! Have you ever tried using a chocolate mould before? We found it surprisingly time consuming as each layer needs to be left to solidify before another one is added. “Daddy, me have more chocolate please!” It was great fun though and there was plenty of chocolate…

    Toilet roll chicks

I have a quick and easy Easter craft to share with you today. It involves two of my favourite things recycling cardboard toilet roll tubes and Spring time. How to make toilet roll chicks To make some sweet little Easter toilet roll chicks you will need: empty cardboard rolls from paper towels or toilet rolls, yellow paint, orange cardboard, glue stick, scissors, sticky tape and a black pen. Alternative Easter eggs from Playmobil

My very lucky children were recently sent early Easter presents from Playmobil, Playmobil Easter eggs. They always seem to receive lots of chocolate at Easter and these are a great alternative and a little longer lasting too! Inside the plastic shell is a Playmobil figure and the shell can be re-used as a money box. Little Sis was delighted with her magenta egg with the Flower Fairy with Enchanted Tree and Big Brother received a Biker with Motorcycle in the blue egg. Both were easy to put together and my children enjoyed playing with themĀ  and adding them to their…

    Carrot shaped Easter biscuits

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend the Hobbycraft Spring Press Show at Homemade London. I got to meet Kirstie Allsopp (again) who was launching her new range of craft kits for Hobbycraft and watched lots of fun crafty demonstrations. I came away with some lovely baking and home decoration samples and have been busy making all kinds of things from them. Today my son and I made some Easter biscuits. I used my never fail Biscuiteers biscuit recipe and cut out lots of bunny and carrot shapes. When they were cool we decorated them with…

    Washi tape Easter egg

As my washi tape collection grows bigger and bigger I thought it was about time I used some of them up. My Pinterest boards are full of Easter and Spring crafting and I wanted to make something with my 3 year old who is currently exploring eggs at his nursery. We decided on pretty washi tape Easter eggs. How to make a washi tape Easter egg You will need – a variety of washi tapes, card, scissors and contact paper (also known as sticky back plastic). On a sheet of card draw an egg shape and cut it out. Place…
