Monday Happy List – Week 110

Half term has whizzed by. We didn’t seem to sit down at all which was good although I am feeling in need of a little holiday now! I’m so happy to be sitting down writing this, hot cup of tea by my side, listening to the hum of the washing machine. As much as I love my kids, I was happy to see them off to school this morning!  Instead of my usual 5 favourite things from the previous week I thought I would write a recap of our half term adventures. We started our week with a trip to…

    Pumpkin carving at Hughenden Manor

I’m so pleased we were able to squeeze in a trip to do some pumpkin carving at Hughenden Manor today. It was a great way to round off a very exciting half term. It’s also one of my favourite National Trust properties. Hughenden Manor was the home of Benjamin Disraeli, once Prime Minister, but also had an important role during the Second World War. Today you can visit part of the house, gardens, and extensive grounds. They also run some really fun events for families. Last year we went along to one of their Apple Days, this time we wanted…

TNMT: Out of the Shadows skateboarding masterclass and DVD giveaway

Yesterday we were invited to KidZania London for a turtely awesome skateboarding masterclass to celebrate the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. My children love visiting Kidzania and I knew this would be a fun start to their half term week. My 6 year old loves his mini-skateboard so I knew he would love the opportunity to learn some moves from the professionals at Camp Rubicon. KidZania was the perfect location for the masterclass and as soon as we arrived we were taken to the Stadium and the children were kitted out with knee pads, elbow pads…

Monday Happy List – Week 109

It’s Monday and it’s half term which makes me very happy. This half term has felt long and I am glad the children can relax for a bit. Don’t let’s mention the ridiculous of amount of homework they were given considering they are in Reception and Year 2! Anyway, time for my weekly Monday Happy List post. Last week both my children were ill and missed a few days of school. It’s tough having sick kids at home but they both seem to be on the mend now. We did manage to make it to Parents’ Evening and they both had…

A spooktacular Halloween at Warwick Castle

Yesterday we were invited to visit Warwick Castle and see how six all new spine-tingling attractions have turned Warwick Castle into The Haunted Castle over Halloween! It’s been a long time since I last visited Warwick Castle so I was looking forward to going back with my children. My 6 year old is currently studying castles in Year 2 so I knew he would love it. A spooktacular Halloween at Warwick Castle Prepare to be scared this half-term at The Haunted Castle, returning this Halloween at Warwick Castle (22-31 October), with six all-new thrills and spine chills. Play-Doh Imaginarium at the Science Museum

Yesterday we visited the Science Museum to experience the extraordinary at the Play-Doh Imaginarium. To celebrate its 60th birthday, Play-Doh launched an exclusive free event at the Science Museum combining tech and creative play. Fronted by ex-Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis, the Play-Doh Imaginarium is a unique experience for kids combining the worlds of tech and creativity. It features workshops from leading experts, including Play-Doh sculpture artist Eleanor Macnair, and the team behind Tech Will Save Us. It is taking place this weekend and we were fortunate to attend the first workshop of the weekend with Eleanor Macnair. Our workshop…

    Barton Farm Country Park

Just to prove that we don’t sit indoors and spend all our time crafting a few weeks ago we spent the morning at Barton Farm Country Park near the pretty town of Bradford-on-Avon. Every time we visit we find something new and this time was no exception. When we arrived we headed straight for the ancient tithe barn. The weather was threatening to rain and we knew we could hide away inside if necessary. It’s a spectacular 14th century monastic stone barn, 51 metres long, with an amazing timber cruck roof. The tithe barn is part of a complex of…

Monday Happy List – Week 105

This past week has been a strange one. I’m still adjusting to both my children being at school. There was no time to relax at home though as our new kitchen was installed. We ordered it through Wickes and they had a cancellation which meant we were offered a really early slot or had the option of waiting another 6 weeks. We went for the cancellation slot so spent last weekend packing away our kitchen in the spare room. It was interesting watching our new kitchen being installed and it’s looking quite good with just a few snags. We still…
