Ready for Halloween with Boohoo Kids

I’m sure I’m the least fashionable mum on the school run but I love my children to look good. Luckily they both love to go clothes shopping and have an eye for fashion – perhaps they’ll be taking me shopping when they’re older! Anyway, Boohoo.com recently got in touch and asked if we’d like to review the new Boohoo Kids collection. I find it much quicker and easier shopping online than I do in person so I was delighted to spend a quiet hour with a nice cup of hot tea looking at their site. I was asked to take…

Fashion Mash Up Daisy de Villeneuve

A few days ago I published a piece about the new Miffy X H&M Collection. My daughter is a little fashionista in the making and loves to go shopping with me. She takes a real interest in her clothes and how she looks so was delighted when Penguin Random House sent us a copy of their new title to review. Fashion Mash Up is a beautiful, collaborative craft book of fashion through the ages, which has been designed and curated alongside the Victoria & Albert Museum. Packed with over 75 pieces of clothing, 250 stickers with fabulous glitter and foil…

    Miffy x H&M collection

Yesterday we went to Westfield London and I couldn’t resist popping into the massive H&M there to check out a new line of clothing featuring our favourite little rabbit, Miffy.  Mercis and fashion retailer H&M have joined forces to launch a range of apparel featuring Dutch artist Dick Bruna’s classic character Miffy. The Miffy x H&M collection comprises of clothing for babies (aged 0-24 months) and children (aged 2-14). Did you know that Miffy is now 61 years old? I love the fact she is as appealing today as the day she was created by Dick Bruna. I’ve always liked…

    Nutmeg clothes from Morrisons

A few weeks ago we were invited to check out the Spring/Summer collection from Nutmeg – Morrisons very own clothing range. Whilst the children were kept entertained I was shown some of the collections for boys and girls. I really enjoyed looking at the different collections and it was fascinating talking to the designer and hearing about what influenced her. The clothes are all very affordable but that doesn’t mean they’ve scrimped on quality. As well as being on trend there were lots of nice touches, like chunky zips on jackets so little fingers have something to grab on to,…

    Handbags and Gladrags

Today my thoughts have turned firmly towards the school run. Since I’ve never done the school run before I’m not really sure what to expect but on the couple of occasions I’ve visited the school the fashions have been quite wide-ranging. There are the women who are so immaculate you wonder if they actually care for their children; the slummy mummies who look like they’ve just rolled out of bed; the sporty mums who look like they’re going straight on a run after they’ve dropped their children off and then there are the mum’s who look like me, pretty nondescript.…

    On being less mumsy

It doesn’t seem very long ago that I was thinking about clothes for Autumn and Winter but the weekend sunshine has got me hopeful about Spring! It’s so lovely to wake up to sunshine and we’ve seen plenty of snowdrops and daffodils on our weekend away. The sunshine has been deceiving as it’s still really cold but I’ve been busy planning. I’m currently on a mission to make me look a little less mum-sy with a new wardrobe and hair cut. I seem to have settled into wearing a very boring mum-sy uniform of jeans and tops and totally lost…

    Dressing for winter

I find this time of year really difficult to dress for. I look outside and see blue sky and think it’s Spring. But when I actually get outside it’s cold and windy. I end up either wearing too many layers or not enough! I invested in a lovely new coat at the end of last year but I needed some more layers to keep me warm. It’s not often I’m asked to review clothes so I was very excited when I was offered a voucher to spend online at Joe Browns. Like most mums I find it really difficult to…

    Growing up

My daughter turned one on Thursday. I can’t believe how quickly the year has gone and a little bit of me wishes she would slow down! We’ve been having lots of ‘firsts’ lately. First shoes (5th November) was followed by first tooth (17th November). She been crawling and standing for a while but it now pretty good at speed crawling as soon as she hears the baby gate open. I’ve also caught her looking longingly up the stairs a couple of times. She can say a couple of words, such as cat and daddy but has a great pointy finger…

Shopping for boys (BritMums/TK Maxx 3 Looks for £30 Challenge!)

BritMums challenged me to find three great looks for the toddler for £30 at TK Maxx. Part of the challenge was to pick three outfits, all tailored to different occasions. The toddler has a busy social life so I chose scooting round the park, our summer music class and back to school. We’re lucky that we have a TK Maxx in our local shopping centre so arrived nice and early to make sure the toddler was in a good mood. He’s a bit temperamental so you have to make sure he’s in the right frame of mind if you want…
