Yesterday I went shopping and I’m not afraid to admit I was also looking for Christmas wrapping paper! The mere thought of having to buy, wrap and deliver all those Christmas presents worries me every year and with the seasonal arrival of Second Baby I am on a mission to be ready earlier than ever. I also have a couple of birthday presents to arrange so it feels very good to be able to say I have a lot of my presents sorted. I love handmade so I’ve really enjoyed making a lot of presents and I’ll be showing off…

I had a whopping 107 entries to my Sew, Mama, Sew giveaway. I loved reading everyone’s comments on what they would make with the Royal Wedding fabric and I am pleased to announce the winner is Sallie. Congrats, Sallie! Is it too early to be thinking about Christmas? One of my favourite sewing books is Fa La La Felt and I can’t resist working my way through all the projects. I’ve made a lot of the patterns from it but these little felt gingerbread people really took my fancy! They were quick to make although I need to perfect the…

I’m resigned to the fact that we’ve recently waved goodbye to those blissful baby months. You know, the ones where you can guarantee that if you leave your baby on his playmat in the middle of the floor he’ll still be there while you answer the door. Ever since Edward turned 9 months (a mere week or two ago!) he seems to have turned into a whirlwind of energy. We’ve been back home for a couple of days and he obviously feels the need to explore every corner. So far he’s pretty much ignored his lovely Christmas toys in favour…

As part of my Day Zero challenge I’m aiming to take part in at least one swap a month. So in the run up to Christmas I signed up for a couple of Christmas swaps. First up was the Blogger’s Secret Santa organised by Leanne where I received a copy of Cath Kidston’s Sew! from Helen. It’s full of beautiful projects to make (some of which will probably end up as birthday and Christmas presents). I sent a Moleskine recipe journal to Domestic Goddesque. Then I joined up for the Secret Christmas Ornament Swap organised by Denise and I received…

So we’ve got through our seemingly endless preparations for Christmas and the big day is nearly here. Today we finished the peppermint creams, coconut ice, brownies, cupcakes and the oven is finally free and cooking the turkey. I can’t wait to spend tomorrow with the family enjoying all the hard work of the last few days and helping Edward open his mountain of presents. I’ve found a couple of fun ways to remind us of his first Christmas. Firstly Sally was giving away codes to make a photograph showing Father Christmas in your house. Well we’re currently staying with my…

A couple of days before Christmas and I have just the gift for expectant mums, new mums or mums and little ones who deserve a special treat! Bath time is a lot more fun since we have been using the lovely beginning… by Maclaren bath products. The handy travel size products, beautiful packaging and natural ingredients make it an ideal Christmas present. Both myself and my husband love adding the products to bath time. We’ve now used all the travel size pots and would recommend it as a great gift at any time of the year. The travel kit for…

Christmas is my favourite time of year and yesterday we took some time out to make a gingerbread house with my youngest niece. It’s become a bit of a tradition and this year we tried a kit from Dr Oetker, which included the gingerbread, icing and sweets. It was really simple to put together. Daddy assembled the house and placed strategic dollops of icing and my niece decorated with marshmallows, jellies and smarties. The finished gingerbread house – the perfect holiday craft and it only took 30 minutes!

I’m loving my mum’s Christmas spirit at the moment. This evening we were in the kitchen making marzipan fruits and fudge for Christmas when there was a knock at the door. When she opened it a group of carol singers burst into song with “We Wish You a Merry Christmas. She said “I don’t think so, thank you” and shut the door! Then she muttered “That’s not even a proper Christmas carol”. Now my mum has spent the last few months preparing for Christmas and gets more excited than any of us so her reaction really surprised us (and made…
