    Back to work and getting stuff done

    I’ve been a little quite lately, not just because my children are back to school, but because I’ve gone back to work too. I have a lovely job in a secondary school which fits (just about) round my children and their school day. My new job is completely different to my old one. I used to work in a museum and got to use my History degree every day. My new job means I’m on my feet all day, helping children who may need additional help.     I’m having the time of my life!

    The last few weeks have been busy which is what I need to take my mind off my imminent return to work. Maternity leave is a a wonderful bubble and I’m glad I discovered the world of parent bloggers to help keep me company. A couple of weeks ago I went to work to discuss reducing my hours. It’s taken me a while to post about the results of the meeting because although the outcome was favourable it all left me feeling really unsettled.     Operation back to work

    Today is the culmination of operation back to work. This afternoon I have a meeting with my manager to discuss my proposal for flexible working and I’m scared! A few weeks ago I prepared a document detailing how I could squeeze my full-time job into a three day week. I’ve been trying to anticipate the questions I’ll be asked but I’m so out of practice that my mind wanders off on other topics, such as the food order I really need to place, birthday cards to post and Edward’s first birthday celebrations.
