Little Man was recently sent some delicious products from Ella’s Kitchen to try. We’re a big fan of organic food and Ella’s Kitchen makes 100% organic foods as certified by the Soil Association. The products have nothing else added, no sugar or salt, no additives, no hydrogenated fat, no GM and nothing artificial. We tried a selection of Stage 2 baby food – including Edward’s favourite, chicken casserole with rice (the others didn’t last long enough for me to remember their names) Cooking sauces – the Italian One and the Indian One Baby Brekki – banana, mango, raisin ‘n’ prune…

I haven’t participated in The Gallery for ages but I couldn’t resist this week’s prompt – body parts. I have lots of pictures of Edward showing varying degrees of beautiful baby chubbyness. However, we’ve recently put up a stair gate and I couldn’t resist this picture: Not many body parts fit through those bars!

Before our son was born I admit I was pretty clueless about babies. It was only at our John Lewis nursery appointment that I learned about not using baby wipes for the first couple of weeks. So we stocked up on cotton wool and I religiously washed his face, fingers and toes with cotton wool and boiled water until he was 6 months old. Our little boy has had eczema since birth so we’ve always been careful what products we use on his face and body. I knew that most wipes contained preservatives or chemical additives so have always used…

I can’t believe we’ve now been using the maclaren baby travel kit for four weeks. The travel sized products have lasted well through several uses. Unfortunately one of the bottles leaked in the post so the lovely Maclaren people sent a replacement kit. This has been the only problem. We’ve enjoyed using each product. Although we’ve never used special baby products before we’ve relished the opportunity of adding luxury to bath time. Edward’s skin has benefited from the natural ingrdients and is soft and smooth. He still has a mad half hour of energy before bed but using the bath…

We were recently sent a BabyDan magnetic drawer/cupboard lock to review. I was really happy to try this as Edward is increasingly moving around and it won’t be long before we have to have a serious think about locks on cupboards and stair gates. The magnetic drawer/cupboard lock was simple to fit and can be screwed or stuck (both screws and an adhesive are provided) to your drawer or cupboard. The mechanism looks complicated but is actually really simple! It uses gravity to keep it locked and a magnet in the key to unlock it. We liked the way it…

Right now I feel torn in two. Edward and I spend every day together but my husband has been in hospital since Tuesday evening for his planned stoma reversal surgery. We’ve been staying with my mum so she can look after Edward and I can visit my husband. It’s so hard leaving Edward in the morning, especially when my mum tells he spends the day looking for me! The NCT website has some really helpful advice on responding to separation anxiety. I know that at 8 months Edward can tell when I’m not around but has no concept of time…

HiPP Organic recently carried out a nationwide survey to gain the views of the modern day mum. I could relate to some of their findings: 25% of pregnant women claimed to have had no cravings during pregnancy the 2nd trimester is the favourite stage of pregnancy for 63% of HiPP Mums 67% of HiPP mums felt that weaning their baby was fun, exciting or delightful I’ve tried and failed to make food that Edward will eat. I was really excited at the thought of weaning but underestimated how difficult it would be to get Edward to eat the food I…
