Sylvanian Families inspired gingerbread biscuits

Sylvanian Families inspired gingerbread biscuits

Posted on September 7, 2017September 7, 2017 by jenny

Over the summer holidays my daughter wanted to bake some biscuits. She’s going through a massive Sylvanian Families obsession at the moment. Our house looks like a toy shop as her playsets cover the floor.

For some reason I used a packet mix I picked up at Waitrose. It was one I hadn’t tried before but only needed an egg white so was easy to make with my daughter – I’ve forgotten the name but I’ll add it if I remember.

She made the gingerbread dough, we chilled it briefly, before rolling it out. Ages ago she received a plastic Sylvanian Families stencil and we used this to cut the biscuits out.

It was a little tricky and the dough was very crumbly but cut out about 6 bunnies and bears, as well as some flowers.

We baked them in the oven according to the instructions and left them to cool. My 5 year old loves icing pens so decorated them with simple icing.

The biscuits tasted delicious but were crumbly so I’m not sure I would buy the mix again. There were so many biscuits that they lasted for a few days in an air tight container.

What do you think? Have you ever baked any themed snacks with your children? If so, I would love to hear them.

These are adorable! I love gingerbread anything so I doubt these would have lasted very long in my house! 🙂

Aww, these are cute and well made. Sylvanian families really take me back to the 90s.

mm I love gingerbread! Never tried using a packet mix but I imagine it made things a lot easier (and faster!) which is pretty important when baking with kids 😁 they turned out super great!!

We love baking with packet mixes, it’s so handy just to add an egg, especially on rubbish weather days. These biscuits look very cute x
