Monday Happy List

Sunday Happy Things {Week 438}

Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while although now I’m moved it to Sunday. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to sit down and write.

Sunday Happy Things {Week 438}

Did you make any Welsh cakes to celebrate St David’s Day on 1st May? I couldn’t resist making a batch of griddle cakes and they didn’t last long. I used an easy recipe for Welsh cakes I’ve tried before as it never fails.

My daughter celebrated World Book Day by dressing up in her pyjamas for school. She took her favourite book in with her and had plenty of time to read. We also bought a few of the 2023 £1 books for her to read.

I’m still reading and really enjoying The Housekeepers by Alex Hay. I always love historical fiction and this is a great page turner.

We had a cheeky weekend away in Margate whilst the kids went camping with Scouts. We enjoyed delicious tapas at our friends’ tapas restaurant, Lilies’ Margate. Unfortunately Dreamland was closed but we enjoyed some lovely walks on the beach with our pup, and were excited to see Another Time by Anthony Gormley which is situated in the sea behind the Turner Gallery. The statue gets gradually covered by the sea as the tide comes in so we were lucky to be able to watch it covered and uncovered during our visit.

We also managed to squeeze in a visit to the pretty towns of Broadstairs and Whitstable too. The weather was so cold for March but it didn’t stop us walking on the beaches and finding cute cafes to warn up in.

    I used to love world book day when I was a kid. We used to all make our own costumes back then. Now it seems that everyone just goes out and buys one, which is a shame.

      I always made our costumes when the kids were little – wearing pyjamas seems like a real cop out to me!
