Monday Happy List

Summer Holidays edit {Week 360}

Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List  is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.

Summer Holidays edit {Week 360}

I love a Bank Holiday and was excited to explore somewhere new with the family. We booked tickets for Church Gardens, Harefield which was holding an open garden. The walled gardens are part of the old Harefield Place estate and are being restored and re-developed by the current owners. Church Gardens consists of three walled areas; the kitchen garden, a smaller courtyard behind the main house, and a much larger area comprising of a nuttery/orchard.

The weather was quite cold last week and decidedly Autumnal. I could’t resist baking some gingerbread with my daughter. She used some dog cutters which she had made on our 3D printer. We had a lot of fun and she was able to take some to school in her packed lunch.

My daughter went back to school and into Year 5 which she wasn’t terribly excited about. However I think she had a pretty good time and was happy to see her friends again. She has an amazing new teacher and I’m really hoping she’ll enjoy this year as the last two years have been so interrupted.

I seemed to make lots of trips to the garden centre last week as I stocked up on some pretty Spring bulbs. My tomato plants are nearly over, I’ve pulled up most of my sunflowers so I need something to put in all my tubs. I repotted a small Christmas tree and an Acer which we were given. I seemed to be developing quite a container garden which is fun to look after.

We managed to pick quite a haul of blackberries one evening last week. We are getting back in the habit of taking the dog for an evening walk and came across a bountiful supply of blackberries. All we had were poo bags but they held a surprising number of blackberries, which made a very delicious blackberry and apple crumble.

    I love foraging! Blackberry foraging sounds awesome on a dog walk. My partner and I usually forage brambles on our walks. Lovely read.

    I hope she has a great year. It’s great for them to be back and seeing their friends and having a bit more normality in their lives.

    The gardens sound lovely, but I know what you mean about it feeling Autumnal, although now it’s hot again, the weather can’t make up it’s mind x

    I have been to my garden centre last week as well, to buy some stones for a little project. I left with four different new plants as well, which ended up on the path covered with the stones. It’s nice that the weather is still spoiling us with sunshine and warm temperatures, perfect really to work in the garden.

    What a lovely week you have had? Just reminded me to go get my spring bulbs as well as I’ve not planted any this season.

    It sounds like you had a fab week, my two little ones went back to school too (one starting juniors and one starting secondary school) so we had lots of nervousness in our house. However they both seemed to be really enjoying it so I hope your little one is too.
