Summer Holidays edit {Week 304}

Posted on August 10, 2020 by jenny

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write. We love the Summer holidays but they are not usually quite so quiet as this year! We are still trying to have as much fun as possible.

Summer Holidays edit {Week 304}

When I sit down to write this post I usually look through the photos on my phone first. There have been tons of photos in the last 7 days! No wonder I am feeling a little shattered as I write this….

We crafted. A. Lot. You know we always managed a craft or two but it feels like I said yes to everything my children wanted to make or do last week. We made our own pavement chalk, shrunk crisp packets, made fluffy slime, baked alllllll the things, walked the puppy, had water fights in the garden and filled the freezer with freshly picked blackberries.

making slime at home

There have been a few projects I’ve wanted to make since lockdown started and last week I finally did them. These included baking flapjacks, making our own pavement chalk and stitching tablet beanbags for the kids to use. They’ve been using their tablets more during the school holidays and I thought this would encourage better posture. They both love Rob Biddulph’s drawing videos and made his grid this week which was probably the highlight of their summer so far.

Like a lot of people we have spent time on our home and garden over the last 4 months. With the recent news about the reduction in Stamp Duty we had a few thoughts about moving house. We had the house valued and decided to get our drive done (it was the only part of the house we hadn’t touched). Unfortunately it is taking a bit longer than we thought but our old drive had been removed and hopefully the new one will be put in this week.

DIY Liberty scraps notebook

I’ve been meaning to start a little notebook with all the Liberty fabric scraps I use and I finally started it. I used one of my Orla Kiely notebooks and cut into my beautiful fabric stash. Everyone knows that Liberty fabric is the best fabric and I’ve used quite a few different designs over the years. I’m adding swatches to my notebook along with the name of the design and how I’ve used it.

I didn’t think we would be able to have a holiday this summer but we are currently enjoying some fresh sea air in Devon! We’ve eaten fish and chips whilst watching the sun go down, the kids have built sandcastles on the beach, they’ve swum in the pool and I’m sunburnt. We still need to eat ice-creams and play crazy golf! It’s so lovely to be away from home for a few days.

Have a great week!

    Sounds like you’ve been busy. My kids have been busy picking the blackberries from our garden, so my freezer is nicely stocked up too now! Love this time of year.
