Summer Holidays edit {Week 302}

Posted on July 27, 2020 by jenny

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write.

Summer Holidays edit {Week 302}

We are all so excited that the summer holidays have started. We all needed a break from home learning and the children have enjoyed doing all the things they love to do – mainly den building in the garden, finding art lessons on YouTube, baking cakes and playing. It’s strange to not be ruled by Zoom meetings but it feels like our home is a home again.

With further lockdown restrictions easing we have been out a little more. We have had lots of trips to the park, took bags of toys to the charity shop and ate out at a restaurant (which was very strange). Now it’s mandatory to wear masks in shops I actually feel a little more comfortable shopping, although I’m rapidly running out of money to go shopping!

re-visiting the park since they were closed for Covid-19

Thanks to it being the school holidays we were able to relax more. The weather has been a bit mixed so the children have been happy to stay indoors, watching PopFest on POP and their favourite shows on Disney+. We’ve been out too on plenty of dog walks, to the play park (now they’ve finally re-opened) and blackberry picking!

My children are currently obsessed with Draw With Rob. It started when we all took part in his record breaking attempt back in May. They’ve been working their way through his videos on YouTube and were finally able to do the lessons on the day they were uploaded. My 8 year old was featured in his latest round up which she was so happy about.

I’ve been reading a lot and stitching too. I finished the bee embroidery hoop from Mollie Makes and made a start on The Original Dropcloth sampler I was given earlier this year. It features 14 stitches which I thought would be a fun way to learn new stitches and challenge myself.

Have a great week everyone.

    Ah, Draw with Rob sounds like an interesting channel. My son is a brilliant artist, he used to love drawing when he was little. Have they seen Bob Ross? Check out his videos. He’s a bit old fashioned looking but fab

    How have I missed draw with rob, my eldest is obsessed with painting and drawing I am off to find this on you tube now.
    We have been really happy about the parks being open and equally gutted about the rain that has come with it

    Like you, I am so relieved that the holidays are here. I work in a school so have been balancing that and home schooling. We all just needed a break.

    Although saying that, My almost teenager is just watching TV and I am finally dedicating proper time to my blog so still stuck to the laptop. I just enjoy the slower pace.

    Enjoy your holidays and the blackberries!

    The summer holidays have given people the opportunity to breathe a big sigh of relief! I’m with you, totally feel more comfortable wearing a mask and now even more so with everyone else wearing them too! Draw With Rob sounds fun, I wasn’t aware of it before but will definitely check it out as an activity for the summer hols! Sim x

    I do agree, so looking forward to the holidays now and no more doing homeworks so kids can be kids again. Both my kids love Draw with Rob too and have each done over 30 of his pictures. He is so talented and help the kids realise that art is fun

    It must be nice to have the school holidays as it’s time when you can all enjoy as we’re able to get out a bit more. I feel so much more comfortable with everyone wearing masks too x

    Wearing masks in stores is mandatory here as well and I think it will be (and should be) for a long while. I was never able to draw at all, I wish there had been a series helping me learn how when I was younger.

    We’ve not heard of draw with Rob before. My middle child loves to draw. I’m sure she would find that useful.
