Strange Snail discovery boxes {crafty subscription box for kids}

My children love receiving mail and their favourite type of mail is a craft package. My 6 year has already told me he wants to be an artist when he grows up, so I am happy to indulge him with craft supplies and activities to explore his hobby. We were offered a Strange Snail discovery box which is a crafty subscription box for kids aged 5-8 year.

Each box is themed and activities are tailored to the Key Stage 1 curriculum, so the boxes are educational as well fun. Our box was about the Solar System and called Planet and Stars which I think is always appealing to adults and children. Inside were everything needed for 3 activities – Stars in a Jar, Amazing Solar System and Mod Roc Planet.

Each activity had its own instruction sheet with a list of everything you need as well as clear step by step instructions. There were also a number of facts to take the learning activity a little further.

My 6 year old is my chief subscription box tester and really enjoyed this box. He could do each activity with a little help from a grown up and enjoyed the mix of creative fun whilst learning a few new facts too. Sometimes he’ll whizz through the activities in a subscription box but he took his time with this one, enjoying each activity.

It’s difficult to say which activity he liked most as he tells me he can’t decide. However I think the Stars in a Jar is a classic and fun activity which looks great when finished.

The Mod Roc Planet activity was fun but messy. My 4 year old got involved too and everyone enjoyed getting their hands dirty.

Everything in the subscription box is used, even the cardboard box and my son was pleased with everything he had made and learned. We would definitely recommend Strange Snail discovery boxes and I like the high educational content. A monthly subscription costs £15 but they currently have a great offer where you can use the discount code SUMMER20 to receive 20% off your first order. Offer ends 30 September 2016.

Thank you to Strange Snail for letting us try out their wonderful discovery box for kids.

  1. My daughter would absolutely love this dropping through our letterbox each month. She’s 11 but I guess that means she could do more of the activities independently, though I note the boxes are geared towards key stage 1 – do they do boxes for older kids? Also is it an annual sign-up? £15 a month is a bit of a commitment, so just wondered. Tx
