Are you taking part in Stir Up Sunday today? Stir up Sunday is celebrated the last Sunday before the season of advent when traditionally people made their Christmas puddings.
I’ve already blogged about Lyle’s Mary Christmases campaign which sounds fun but I was contacted by Yeo Valley too, who think 2013 is all about the revival of the homemade Christmas Pudding; apparently it’s falling out of favour as the traditional pudding on Christmas Day. I’ll admit to enjoying some Christmas pud despite over indulging with turkey and pigs in blankets. How about you?
Yeo Valley offered to send me a select hamper full of ingredients to help me get the whole family gathering in the kitchen to help stir the mixture and make good will wishes for the festive season. The hamper contained a rather odd selection of dried fruit and an orange so I’m off shopping this morning to buy the remaining ingredients. A traditional Christmas pudding contains a lot of things and after having a good root through my food cupboards I still need to find some shredded suet, fresh breadcrumbs, carrot and self-raising flour.
They did send me a beautiful Cornishware mixing bowl so I’ll forgive them for having to go out in this cold weather. After all, I have a lovely afternoon to look forward to, baking with my family in the kitchen.
