Six things to do in Paris with teens

Posted on November 25, 2024 by jenny

Paris is a vibrant city with something for everyone, including teens! Whether they’re into history, art, shopping, or just enjoying the city’s cool atmosphere, here are five great activities to do with teens in Paris:

  1. Visit the Louvre Museum (But with a Twist)

The Louvre is one of the most famous museums in the world, and while it’s a must-see, teens might appreciate a more interactive approach. Skip some of the traditional art tours and go for a themed scavenger hunt or a kid-friendly guided tour that focuses on famous works like the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, or the Winged Victory of Samothrace. You can also download the museum’s app to make the experience more engaging and fun.

  1. Explore the Montmartre Neighbourhood

Montmartre has a cool, artistic vibe that teens will love. Take a walk through this bohemian neighbourhood, which was once home to famous artists like Picasso and Van Gogh. Visit the Sacré-Cœur Basilica for stunning views of the city (or cheat and take the funicular!), then stop by the local cafés, quirky shops, and street artists. Teens can try out sketching their own works or have a portrait drawn by one of the many street artists.

  1. Hang Out at Le Marais

Le Marais is one of Paris’s trendiest neighbourhoods, full of cool boutiques, art galleries, and unique cafés. Teens will enjoy browsing the stylish stores, grabbing a bite at one of the many trendy cafés or ice cream spots (try Berthillon for legendary Parisian ice cream!), and checking out the cutting-edge street art. The area is also home to the Musée Picasso and the Centre Pompidou, which both have exhibits that might catch their attention.

  1. Climb the Eiffel Tower

No trip to Paris is complete without visiting the Eiffel Tower, but for teens, the experience can be more exciting if you take the stairs (up to the second level). The climb is a bit of a challenge, but the views of the city from the top are well worth it. Alternatively, you can take the lift to the top for a faster and more leisurely trip. Afterward, hang out in the Champ de Mars park or along the Seine for some great photos.

  1. Cruise on the Seine River

Another cool way to see Paris is from the water. Teens will love the experience of cruising along the Seine, especially at sunset when the landmarks light up. Some companies offer boat tours with music or dinner, but there are also more relaxed, budget-friendly options.

Bonus: Musée d’Orsay

The Musée d’Orsay has always been a favourite of mine. Featuring art from 1848 to 1914 it is the best place to see Impressionism in Paris and we loved the Van Gogh collection on display.

These activities combine culture, history, fun, and relaxation, making Paris a fantastic destination for teens to explore!
