Shamrock Paper Wreath from the gingerbread house blog

Shamrock Paper Wreath {St. Patrick’s Day Craft}

Posted on February 7, 2019February 7, 2019 by jenny

Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17th March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. As we have Irish heritage we love to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and this year have a few new craft ideas to share with you. Today we are going to share a fun St. Patrick’s Day craft for kids – a shamrock paper wreath craft.

Shamrock paper wreath supplies:

A4 coloured craft or tissue paper

Scissors

Craft glue

How to make a Shamrock paper wreath:

Select any coloured cardstock paper for the base of the wreath. Print and cut out the shamrock wreath pattern from the free shamrock wreath template. Trace the template on the selected cardstock paper and cut it out.

Grab some green coloured craft papers (or tissue paper) and cut them into small squares (approximately 1 x 1 inch).

Take any one of the square green papers and crumple them into a small ball shape. One by one crumple all the square green paper cutouts.

You can mix different shades of green craft papers to add some interest to the finished wreath.

Take the shamrock wreath base and start to add the crumpled paper balls on it. Use craft glue to attach the crumpled paper balls on the base.

Top tip – it’s easier to glue the crumpled paper balls adjacent to each other. Glue from a side and continue to fill the base until there are no cheeky white bits.

Continue to glue the crumpled paper balls until the entire wreath is filled. Once the wreath base is filled, attach a hanging loop at the back to hang it up.
