Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more. I’ve been making more time for crafting and I love to try something new with each of the cover gifts. Mollie Makes Papercut Book Issue 63 came with a really cool Mollie Makes Papercut Book. I love paper craft and I was so excited to see this. I enjoyed making the last paper gems kit from the last issue, there’s just something lovely about working with such an…

This year I will be concentrating on what we love to do best – making things – and today we’re joining in with the Kid Craft Challenge Blog Hop. We have a super sweet craft to share with you which we think is a great Valentine’s Day craft for kids – to make a Valentine tissue paper luminary. I admit we’re quite addicted to making these kid-friendly luminaries. There is always a good supply of empty glasses and LED tea lights in our house so this is a fun craft for kids to make and give as a gift. Easy…

We’ve made some lovely festive crafts over the last week. The children are so excited about Christmas and I’ve been enjoying watching and listening to their chatter. They are both rehearsing for their Christmas plays at school and it is really funny listening to their interpretation of Christmas. We love making handmade gifts and cards. This year we thought we would try something a little different from a photo card and made a gingerbread man with candy cane Christmas card. Gingerbread man with candy cane Christmas card I had a few attempts at making a gingerbread man who could…

Next month my mum celebrates her 75th birthday. She’s already had her big present from us, we gave her 2 First Class tickets for the Dartmouth Express so she could enjoy afternoon tea on the steam train. She’s organised a family party in December so I thought I would make some personalised decorations for the party venue. Personalised gifts from Cheerz I wanted to make something she could keep after her party was over and decided to print out a selection of photos of the family. They included black and white photos of her and her parents and grandparents, as…

The school holidays have given us lot of lovely time to craft and experiment. We’ve gone through lots of supplies and organised our craft supplies several times in a bid to keep tidy (not easy with two children who love to craft!). Yesterday we finally got the chance to try some products we were sent from Faber Castell – the Faber-Castell Connector Paint Box and the Clic & Go Water Pot. Making Miffy mail! We’ve never experimented with watercolour paint before but I came up with a fun activity to keep my children busy. We made our own Miffy mail…

As I mentioned the other day I was invited to a fun workshop to celebrate the launch of Furniture Hacks by Hesta Van Overbeek at West Elm, the furniture and accessories store on Tottenham Court Road. How to make a plate clock We sat down at a long table and were able to pick a plate from West Elm for the clock face, our choice of hands as well as a clock mechanism and battery. Then came the fun part. I painted my clock hands orange using nail varnish and marked the centre of my plate with a small dot…

These days I’m surrounded by tech. I don’t go anywhere without my iPhone, I also have an iPad Mini and use a MacBook Air at home. My husband has the same items so we’re always looking for ways to identify them so we know who owns what. This week a new book was published – Dress Your Tech: 35 projects to customise your phone, laptop, tablet, camera, and more by Lucy Hopping. Shop-bought covers and accessories can be expensive and dull so this book is perfect if you would like to customise them yourself for a fraction of the price.…
