A trip to SEA LIFE London Aquarium with kids

Juno the Penguin at London Aquarium

I do love a day in London with my kids. We all love exploring our city and London has so much to offer families, especially in the Summer months. Today we were gifted tickets to SEA LIFE London Aquarium on the South Bank in Central London. We hopped on the Underground and soon emerged at Westminster station so we could enjoy a walk over Westminster Bridge in the sunshine.

A trip to SEA LIFE London Aquarium with kids

It’s been a while since our last visit to SEA LIFE London Aquarium. I had a quick look through my old blog posts and we’ve visited back in 2011 and 2013 when the kids were tiny. I couldn’t wait to go back and see what had changed.

I love the fact that you don’t need to go abroad to meet incredible animals from around the world. SEA LIFE London Aquarium invites everyone to come and make some ‘fin-tastic’ new friends whilst venturing into the depths of Central London.

Here are some of the fin-tastic friends families can look forward to meeting this summer:

Boris the Sea Turtle – Journey through our ocean tunnel where you can discover an array of marine life including unicorn tangs, rays, puffer fish… You may catch a glimpse of Boris our sea green turtle; he’s a little shy at first but lots of fun when he gets to know you!

Belle the Shark – Come face-to-fin with several species of sharks here at SEA Life London, including sand tigers, black tips, and nurse sharks. Take cover or you’ll get soaked by nurse shark Belle; an extravagant lady who loves making a splash!

Juno the Penguin – Brrr-ace the chills and thrills of Polar Adventure, home to our Gentoo penguins. Keep an eye out for Juno; she may live in the cold, but her playful nature will melt your heart.

Archie the Dwarf Croc – Brave the rainforest and discover a world full of creepy crawlies, charming crocs and curious critters. Remember to wave your fin to our quirky croc Archie; he has a winning smile that will warm you heart.

You can take part in their fin-tastic ‘selfie wall’, discover who your bestie is, and take the ultimate BBF selfie. You will also be in with a chance of winning a VIP experience with their social competition, all you have to do is share your selfie using #SeaLifeLondonBestie and tagging @sea_life_london on Instagram, @london_aquarium on Twitter or @SEALIFELondonaquarium on Facebook.

We had a lovely trip to SEA LIFE London. The kids were so excited to see all the different animals. It is arranged into different zones with plenty of photo opportunities, toilets and a little shop along the way. It took us around 2 hours to go round and there were plenty of places to sit and rest (it really is huge!). Big Brother loved all the interactives, especially when he could design his own jellyfish and play a game against other visitors.

Little Sis enjoyed the sharks! The tanks were so huge it felt like you were really close, especially when you walked through the glass tunnel. She was also able to get up close with the penguins which was pretty amazing. I loved seeing all the different jellyfish, they are so beautiful and it was brilliant to be able to see them so closely.

We had a brilliant experience and it was strange walking out of the building into the crowds of the South Bank. We took a picnic which we enjoyed at the lovely (and free) children’s adventure playground in Jubilee Gardens. It’s suitable for children up to age 11 and the perfect spot to relax away from the crowds.

SEA LIFE London is open seven days a week. For the latest opening times, feeding times, prices and more, see http://www.visitsealife.com/london/  A big thank you to SEA LIFE London for inviting us along today.
