We have just got back from another lovely weekend on the Isle of Wight. We spent Saturday scouring the many charity shops of Ryde and picked up some beautiful vintage plates and saucers. The lady in the shop said her family had the same set when she was growing up so thought they must be quite old.
I spent some time with my mum who taught me how to use the sewing machine she has given me and I did my first piece of applique! She also helped me with my knitting and I knitted a cute little bonnet for Blythe.
The weekend also marked the 10th anniversary of my Dads’ death so we all went to our old church, St Saviours on the Cliff, Shanklin, and after the service laid some pretty flowers in the burial section. My mum managed to get a small piece about my Dad in the weekly Church bulletin:
Peter Mansel Young RIP
Today is the 10th anniversary of the death of Peter who, amongst other things, was church treasurer, a server, a chorister, a reader and chalice administrator at Saint Saviour’s. We welcome his family this morning as they gather in his memory and join them in our prayers as we pray for the repose of his soul.
After the service we all went out to lunch at the Appley Manor Hotel.
