As part of my pre-Christmas clear out I sorted through the toy boxes and put aside some of the children’s old toys. As I was putting them into a bag for the charity shop I had an idea about recycling them into decorations. Both children have small trees in their bedrooms and I thought we could make some decorations for them.
Equipment needed to make recycled toy decorations:
Unwanted plastic toys
Spray paint
Screw eyes
Pin vice
How to make recycled toy decorations:
Pick a selection of plastic toys. I would love to use toys the children play with but I know they are too young to appreciate me painting their toys. A selection of Disney Princesses or Fire and Rescue vehicles would look really good!
First spray paint your plastic toys in a well ventilated area. Give them two coats of paint and make sure you paint the feet as you will see the bottom of the toys when they are hung up.
Using a pin vice make a small hole in the top of each toy.
Push and screw in the screw eye. Thread a piece of ribbon or ric rac through the screw eye to hang them and add them to your tree!
