It can’t have escaped your notice that pins are really popular at the moment. My collection has been growing steadily for weeks, thanks to my Lucky Box subscription and Instagram. I can’t help but see a pretty pin and have to follow the trail until I have it for my collection!
My enamel pin badge collection is getting out of control. Two of my favourites are the Custard Cream enamel pin by Nicki McWilliams which I picked up at one of her workshops, and my seam ripper No Regrets enamel pin badge from Colette. I do have a few more on my Pinterest wish list – hopefully my husband will read this as Christmas is apparently only 3 months away.
Anyway, sometimes I wear my enamel pins on my jacket but I like to change them around. I needed somewhere to keep them when I wasn’t wearing them so thought I would make a pin badge holder.
Earlier this year I stitched a really fun Constellation tote bag from Lollipop. I liked the embroidery aspect more than anything as to be honest I really didn’t need another bag. The bag has been hanging up, unloved and un-used ever since. Until today!
I stitched the Great Bear constellation on the bag using flouro thread. It was a little like joining the dots but fun. You can find the Constellation tote bag here if you’re interested. Then I found a large embroidery hoop, placed it over the stitched constellation fabric and cut around the hoop, leaving an extra 2cm.
I simply placed the fabric between the two hoops, tightening the screw until it was nice and taut. It’s a great place to hold my pin badges when I’m not wearing them.
Did you know World Space Week takes place between 4-10 October? Not only have I upcycled, I’m clearly on trend too!
