Pick your own sunflowers at Darts Farm

Each year, Darts Farm grow fields of beautiful sunflowers and ask for donations to raise money for Hospicecare. We have been eagerly looking for somewhere to pick our own sunflowers. Last year we visited the Pop Up Farm in Hertfordshire but they sadly announced that they wouldn’t be open for sunflowers this year. Happily for us we were near to Dart’s Farm at just the right time to go sunflower picking today.

A morning at Darts Farm

It’s been a few years since our last visit to Dart’s Farm which is just outside Exeter in south Devon. On our visit we really wanted to pick our own sunflowers, walk through the maize maze, see the new sculpture trail and pick up some food from the farm shop.

Dart’s Farm is really easy to find and we parked up in a special covered area for dogs. This was such a lovely touch and meant our pup could stay cool in the car on a very hot day.

We paid for two secateurs and wandered over to the sunflower patch just a few minutes from the main building. You could pick your own sunflowers in return for a donation to Hospicecare.

The sunflowers were really beautiful and the children loved seeing all the bees on them. They were only just beginning to open so we picked some which will hopefully open up fully at home. We were able to cut a few stems to take home with us. The sunflower patch is open until they are all gone!

Exploring the Maize Maze

For a £2 donation (this year the money goes to the Estuary League of Friend) you can pick up a clue sheet and explore the maize maze.

On your way you will find 9 hidden clues. Make a note of the letters you find and unscramble them to find the hidden word. Once you have your answer you can return to the Shack to claim your prize.

Darts Farm Sculpture Trail

The Sculpture Trail runs from today until September 13th. Weave your way around the Farm Trail & Bird-hide, spotting the incredible handmade sculptures as you go.
