The Cambrian

Posted on October 11, 2005June 26, 2013 by jenny

City and County of Swansea – Leisure and Tourism Just came across this great site, an index of entries for The Cambrian newspaper from 1804 to 1960. Five minutes later and I found four entries for Thomas Mansel. The full information will be posted for Thomas Mansel soon.

Try again

Multimedia message, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young. Ok, I had rotated that last image but something went wrong 🙁 I’ll work on it! Ruislip Woods, where we went for a nice walk in the fading sunlight (and my boyfriend spent hours walking around in circles, even though he used to live nearby).

Memo

Posted on September 21, 2005 by jenny

Dear landlord of flat downstairs, I can’t take much more. You have let your beautifully refurbished flat to a couple of chavs. 1) they slam every door possible 2) they never double lock the front door (despite the polite notice on the back of it) 3) they play shite music 4) they play this music…

No-one told me family history could be so exhausting. I am currently corresponding with McGill College in Montreal, Canada about Duncan George; the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, also about George Duncan; the Isle of Wight Record Office about Caswell’s on the Isle of Wight; Guildford Crematorium about the grave of Selina Cleopatra Ann…

New depths of geekiness

Posted on September 4, 2005May 15, 2012 by jenny

Over my long weekend I managed to visit the Probate Registry and search for Wills. This was my first visit and it was the most unfriendly place I’ve ever been to. I was totally unprepared for how easy it was to search (take a look at their website and you’ll see why) and so only…

:: Home :: You may think I’ve been quiet but I’ve actually been really busy corresponding with record offices to see how much information I could get for free! I found out where Selina Caswell is buried and that Alfred Young’s name appears on the First World War memorial in Bridgend, Wales. Attention to detail…
