Tonight I made this cute frog from a lovely pattern on The Purl Bee website here Frog, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young.

Whilst visiting my aunt she gave me a little pot containing a cutting of lily of the valley from my great-grandmothers garden. She died in 1956 so I think it’s crazy that this plant is still around. It has come to me via Swindon and Worcester and I’m wondering how it is going to take in our little city garden. It was given to us at the weekend by my aunt, along with some geraniums destined to update my window boxes. I’m not naturally green fingered so I’m praying this little plant survives.

Had a great weekend driving through beautiful country. We went and visited some relatives in Worcestershire and made a weekend of it by staying in a lovely hotel in the heart of the Malverns. After a hearty cooked breakfast we climbed to the top of the British Camp, 338m with great views across Herefordshire and Worcestershire! Then we drove down to Winchcombe and on to Hailes Abbey. I also managed to squeeze in a bit of time for some shopping (hooray!) so I have some new clothes and some beautiful Cath Kidston fabrics to add to my growing stash. I…

How can it be only tuesday? I am so tired as it’s really busy at work at the moment. This evening I finally re-potted my basil, coriander and rocket. They looked cute and healthy in my mini greenhouse, but tiny and helpless in their new seed tray home. I wonder if they’ll survive and grow or if I’ll have to pick them and eat them sooner. Not quite the intensive herb farming I was imagining, inspired by Raymond Blanc’s renowned Manoir aux Quatr’ Saisons.

I can’t believe another weekend is over. It’s gone far too quickly. Today we drove up to Crew’s Hill and visited numerous garden centres, recommended to us by our neighbour, Mary. We didn’t buy anything as we’re still deciding what we want decking, paving, lawn, whatever… We finally finished watching Lost season 2 which was a relief. Now just several episodes of 24 to watch… hopefully before we head off to the country next weekend. Just five days of work to get through first.

I have a poorly boyfriend who has the flu but that hasn’t stopped us from shopping at Exmouth Market this afternoon. I was absolutely horrified to read that Hazel Blears has an Orla Kiely handbag. Orla Kiely is my favourite designer and I have enough handbags and accessories to wear something different every day for a month. How could a politician such as Hazel Blears have the good taste to own such a bag? Apparently Labour are worried that they haven’t addressed the huge divide between rich and poor in this country since they’ve been in control, illustrated in the…

I have been too busy to blog lately. I spent last week on the Isle of Wight scouring charity shops for lovely vintage fabrics, doing lots of touristy things like Brading Roman Villa and The Brading Experience and spending lots of time with my mum, sister and nieces. I also bought some lovely Japanese magazines from ebay which I haven’t had the time to read. I’m hoping I can have a look through them before my new books arrive from Amazon. Finally I tried to apply for my provisional driving licence so I can have some more driving lessons. Then…

I’ve had a busy and expensive few days. On friday I spent lots of money on two new Orla Kiely handbags to add to my expanding collection. I bought my first leather bag, which is red, and I love it. Then yesterday we went to re-visit a beautiful print we saw in a shop window in Crouch End and ended up buying it! It is a print by Stuart Free and shows the old sign on the Hornsey Road Baths which they are currently turning into flats (what else!). The print is fantastic and looks great in our dining room.…
