    The Ladybird generation

Whilst I was on holiday last week I picked up a great selection on vintage books for a swap I am participating in. I really love the old Ladybird classics and wasn’t too surprised to find a group on flickr. Ladybird are also releasing a new book to capitalise on the love for all things vintage. I can’t resist this advert and have added the book to my Amazon wishlist. I’m off to scan some pages from my latest Ladybird purchase ‘Going to School’ to add to the group!

    Vintage fabrics

I have spent the day washing and ironing a small selection of vintage fabrics I picked up on holiday. I have been lucky lately, especially with this crazy Superman fabric. Some of it is destined for swaps but there’s plenty for me!

    Home again

We’re back from a lovely week away. The cottage was perfect and if anyone is looking for a lovely cottage in a sleepy seaside town I would recommend Brook Cottage in Dawlish. The town was great, although I spent too much at Harrison’s Amusement arcade. We even found a good curry house called the Paradise Palace tucked away in a back street on our last night. Yesterday we made good use of our National Trust membership and visited Greenway, the former home of Agatha Christie, and Coleton Fishacre. The we took the ferry into Dartmouth and hired a boat and…

    On holiday

We are currently on holiday in sunny Devon, staying in a lovely little cottage in Dawlish. We have been pottering around the coast and yesterday took the train from Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway to Kingswear. The weather is unbelievably gorgeous and it feels great to be out of London 🙂

    Goodies…

Look what my lovely boyfriend bought me! Something good to read on the long journey to our holiday cottage in Devon tomorrow.

    I made something!

I’ve had a great Bank Holiday weekend, just the right amount of seeing friends, DIY and doing cool new stuff. We went to Walthamstow Stadium on Saturday night to watch the Greyhound racing. It was so much fun and I even broke even! We also finally had the time to do the Parkland Walk from Finsbury Park to Ally Pally. It was such a hot day we had to make some emergency refreshment breaks along the way at the Boogaloo in Highgate and the Village in Muswell Hill. And today I made my first item in my lovely new sewing…

    Cigarettes and alcohol

Today we made a day trip to France to pick up some booze for us and fags for my sister. We spent a couple of hours driving round Calais, completely bewildered by the local tradition of wedding parties driving around the city centre tooting their horns! Saturday must be wedding day over there. Then we drove further up the coast to Dunkirk where we had something to eat in a cafe in the main square and people watched. It was so lovely being out of London, even if it was just for a couple of hours. And now we have…

    Columbia Road Flower Market

Today we went to Columbia Road Flower Market. I hadn’t been in years but it had hardly changed. We bought some new houseplants and got loads of good advice from the flower sellers – I’m never buying from Homebase again! Columbia Road Flower Market I loved the window display of Fred Bare Headwear (great name too!). We also treated ourselves to some delicious cakes from Treacle. Then we went for a lovely walk around Hoxton, Banksy spotting.
