I recently participated in a doll quilt swap on swapbot. This was a good opportunity for me to make a dolls quilt which so many people have blogged about recently. Here is the one I made for my partner. I used lots of vintage fabrics which gave it an autumnal feel (I hope). The pattern is from Little Quilts All Through The House and called Celebration Flag, I love the little house block. I had completely forgot that I would be receiving a quilt too so was pleasantly surprised when this was waiting for me this week. The colours are…

you are mediumauqamarine#66CDAA Your dominant hues are cyan and green. Although you definately strive to be logical you care about people and know there’s a time and place for thinking emotionally. Your head rules most things but your heart rules others, and getting them to meet in the middle takes a lot of your energy some days. Your saturation level is medium – You’re not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it’s required of you. You probably don’t think the world can change for you and don’t want to spend too much effort trying…

The Winter Cath Kidston catalogue was waiting for me when I got home from work today. These little tins are cute (although I have plenty of proper vintage tins for my button collection). I love this new Christmas fabric … and these decorations. I think I’ll be heading off to my local Cath Kidston shop this weekend to take a closer look.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of Green is the New Black in a giveaway on the Make London blog the other week. The book arrived today and looks great so it is packed in my Orla Kiely weekend bag. Monday is our three year anniversary so I’m ready to be whisked off for a romantic break in Bruges, just waiting for the boyfriend to come and get me. Included with the book were some discount vouchers for the first workshop I book at the make lounge, so I will be looking for courses as soon as I…

I was very excited to find this competition today. I have already made a start on mine. And I’ve set up a group on flickr for anyone who wants to join in the fun!

I have been meaning to make a fabric brooch for a while and tonight I stumbled upon a great tutorial over at Wise Craft. My first attempt wasn’t too bad and with a bit of tweaking I think one of these could look great on my winter coat!

I managed to complete the application I had been working on all year and submit it on Friday. It felt like a complete anti-climax but I celebrated by heading off to the pub after work for a large glass of wine or two. On Saturday we visited Tate Modern to see the latest installation in the Turbine Hall. The work was by Doris Salcedo and was basically a large chasm in the floor, running from one end to the other. I didn’t think it was very special and it was actually more fun watching people’s response to it. Then we…

In between a hectic few days I have been busily working on the doll quilt. I think my swap partner might be surprised by the fabrics I am using but I have gone for an autumnal feel with lots of browns and greens. In between sewing I have been catching up with friends; a newly engaged friend on friday night, and friends with new babies yesterday and today. I wish I could say that this coming week was going to be quiet but it’s not. I have a huge deadline on friday but I’m hoping that come 5pm on the…

I have had a great day today. I was on a course held at the Design Museum which was good as a) I wasn’t in the office and b) the course started late and finished early which meant c) I got to look round two exhibitions which I don’t get too do any more. When I got home I was really excited to find the postman had delivered my moo cards and some fabric from a swap, before the week long strike starts. I then spent this evening working on the doll quilt. A really good day, only slightly marred…
