    Finally – WIP!

Ever since our little boat holiday I have been working towards making my own quilt. I made my first quilt when I was 16, for my first serious boyfriend who was off to Uni. When we split up I didn’t think it was polite to ask for it back. Fast forward 14 years (oh I feel old) and it’s time to make another quilt and keep it. So I’ve been paper piecing my octagons and going through my stash of fabrics. I don’t think this is going to be a quick project but hopefully posting about it will give me…

    I’m back!

I’m back from a long weekend in Warwickshire where we hired a narrowboat from here and pottered around the canals of Rugby. We passed some really pretty places, such as the lit up Newbold Tunnel, Stretton Stop and even tried our hand at Hillmorton Locks. Of course we didn’t take any pictures of the really interesting places but we did photograph bridges, steps, more bridges and the pubs we stopped off at!

    Frustration.

I made the mistake of looking through the flickr pool of the coaster swap I joined and I really wish I hadn’t! My carefully chosen fabrics suddenly seemed uninspired and dull. So I spent the last few days making these: log cabin coasters I had never tried making a log cabin patchwork before and enjoyed choosing the fabrics and sewing them together. I was feeling proud of my effort until I washed them and they fell apart… I’m not sure what happened but I’m glad I did wash them before sending them off to my swap partner. I’ll be taking…

    Coaster swap – finished

I finished my coasters for the coaster swap hosted by Amy over the weekend. They are made from my favourite Cath Kidston fabrics naturally. They’ve also been through the wash as I forgot to pre-wash the fabric. I have used Cowboy Cream for the front and each coaster has a different fabric on the back. I hope my partner likes them.

    daffodils

daffodils, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young.   We spent the weekend working on the garden and planning what to do next. The weather was so beautiful and sunny, even warm. I hope it stays like this as we’ve booked a weekend on a narrow boat at the end of the month!   Powered by Linky Tools Click here to enter your link and view this Linky Tools list…

    Full

Tonight we decided to treat ourselves to a meal out and went to the Quality Chop House in Farringdon, London. We had happy memories of eating there a couple of years ago and had never made the time to go back until tonight. Anyway, it is still there and we had a fantastic meal, with excellent service and a gorgeous bottle of rioja. We’ll have to visit more often and sample more of the menu.
