When I saw a swap on LucyKate Crafts blog I just couldn’t resist (even though I swore I needed some time off from swaps during the Doll Quilt 3 Swap!). The swap is for a handmade toadstool, using her wonderful tutorial. My swap partner, Tiffany, requested vintage colour combinations so I’ve used a lovely thrifted pillowcase for the top. This is my first attempt, propped up in my new vintage kitchen cupboard because it doesn’t stand up on it’s own! I’m sure I must have missed a step – any advice anyone?

Swap package received, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young. I received this beautiful quilt today made by the very talented Jen of Life’s A Quilt through the Doll Quilt Swap 3. This week I’ve got the whole week off and today went to Windsor to visit family. The weather was incredibly hot but we managed a walk along the river and a nice pub lunch. We’ve also spent some time decorating our house and working on the garden. Pics to follow soon!

I’m making very slow progress with my Dear Baby Jane block. Tonight I completed C-3 Rayelle’s Fence which was fun. I used some Cath Kidston fabric, I get twitchy if I don’t use some occasionally!

View towards Exeter Cathedral for the Royal Clarence Hotel, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young. Well I can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks since I last posted and the only news I have is that we spent another weekend in Exeter. This time it was for a surprise meal for a family member. The weather was beautiful all weekend and it felt really good to be out and about. We always stay at The Royal Clarence Hotel which overlooks the Cathedral in Exeter. I don’t think we’ve ever had a bad experience there and this time we had a room at the…

We are spending a couple of sunny days in Devon visiting some family. We haven’t spent too much time talking about our wedding although I have been showing off my lovely ring. However, my three year old neice is very excited and has it all planned for us. She said “Auntie Jenny and Uncle Robin are getting married. It will be Fairyland, and I shall be a pink fairy – with wings. Right?” How can I resist….

In The Garden fabric panel, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young. How could I resist this lovely fabric panel in Aunty Cookie’s etsy shop? While I was browsing I also picked up some lovely Chatterbox Cookies red linen trim and patches for applique. They look so good I’m almost afraid to use them.

I received some lovely late birthday presents yesterday. The quilt books had been on my Amazon wishlist for a while. I joined round 3 of the doll quilt swap and am looking for inspiration. I can’t wait to make something from the softies kit, the pattern cards are so beautifully put together. I love the gingerbread house which reminds me of the lovely fabric house sewing tutorial I keep meaning to attempt. I must wait until I have made a start on the dolls quilt before I begin anything else…

I managed to complete another block tonight, it was quite straight forward and I finished it whilst watching America’s Next Top Model! We told some of our friends and work colleagues about our engagement today which was fun. Everyone was asking if we had set a date and decided on a venue but we haven’t had time to think that far yet. My mum sent some beautiful flowers to work which was lovely, but I had a struggle getting them home in one piece on the train and bus. I’m so glad I started driving lessons and have a little…

I spent the weekend making this cute sock monkey from a pattern in Sock and Glove by Miyako Kanamori. I had loads of fun making him, (it’s definitely a he) and I’ve called him Alfie. He’s made out of a very special sock from M&S and will be winging his way across the Atlantic to my swap partner shortly. In other news, this afternoon I got engaged!
