Today we had our first picnic with some friends who had come over to visit daddy in hospital. The weather has been amazing since we’ve been on the Isle of Wight and it has been lovely to get out and about everyday. This was followed by our first visit to a farm when we stopped for some delicious food at the Bluebells cafe at Briddlesford. The food was delicious – butternut squash and thyme soup followed by bread and butter pudding for mummy. They had a very cute calf in a pen next to the cafe and a lovely farm…

Here’s a picture of Edward looking cute in his first bib. I’m not quite sure why it has taken me four weeks to use a bib, I suppose muslins are just too easy to pick up and mop up spills. Yesterday was also the first time we wore socks and the first time we tried gripe water. My poor little boy is very windy and we’ve tried Infacol without success so I thought at four weeks he’s now old enough to try gripe water.

Here we are sporting one of our new outfits bought by Grandad yesterday. As we don’t know when we’ll be able to go home we’ve registered with the local health service. Baby is now weighing in at 4940g – an increase of 970g since birth 🙂 I was discharged by the community midwife and will be contacted by the health visitor to discuss imunisations and other baby stuff. I feel a bit sad as I had a great relationship with my midwife who had looked after me since my first booking-in appointment. I’m never going to get the chance to…

Edward is official today as we managed to fill out a Declaration at the Register Office on the Isle of Wight. This will be forwarded to our local Register Office and we can finally get his birth certificate. We had a little shopping spree in Newport and bought some new clothes as the newborn clothes no longer fit. It was Grandad’s birthday today so cake was duly baked with a little help from Willow.

Another busy day spent taking the baby for a walk along the seafront, visiting daddy in hospital (with the baby who slept beautifully and quietly throughout) and lunch out followed by another hospital visit. Grandad is still visiting so spent plenty of time with our little man. I registered with the local midwives today. I haven’t been discharged by the community midwives yet and had to cancel our last visit but had a few questions and want to make sure the baby is putting on weight properly. He is also quickly growing out of his newborn babygros. I’m hoping to…

Here is the little man sporting stripes on a visit to his auntie’s house earlier this week. We’re still stuck on the Isle of Wight and my husband had a big operation today. They finally diagnosed what’s wrong with him which is a start to his eventual recovery and us going home. It is strange being away from home. We were only meant to be away for a short break and instead I can’t imagine going back to London. I have canceled appointments and a friend has taken the poor neglected cats to the cattery for an indefinite stay. I…

We’ve been marooned on the Isle of Wight since Saturday when my husband became too ill to drive us back to London after Easter. Fortunately we’re staying with my mum who is kindly looking after the baby during the night so I can catch up on sleep. My husband is spending every day in bed taking antibiotics every couple of hours. I bought a lovely Cath Kidston bag in my favourite shop today (a treat to myself for being marooned!) and a lovely book of baby knitting patterns for my mum. The baby is enjoying the constant attention from his…

We had our first outing today (with the help of my friend Sophie) to Wood Green. I needed to prove to myself that I could make it out of the house, manage the bugaboo (in the rain if necessary!) and get on the bus. Luckily it was all fine and the baby slept the whole time. Next time, Muswell Hill or Crouch End!

Eeekk, the time is going sooo quickly. Here’s a picture of baby, who now has a proper name, getting ready for his bath the other evening. I’m really enjoying spending time with the baby and my husband. The last time we spent this much time together was our honeymoon in 2008! Today we all went out for lunch to Muswell Hill which was fun. The little man slept the entire time which meant we were able to enjoy our meal.
