When I was pregnant and read current government advice that babies should sleep in your room until they are at least six months old I didn’t think we would manage this. We thought the baby would be too noisy or would wake too frequently and we would put the baby in it’s own room fairly quickly. At home he sleeps in his cot from 7 until 11 when we wake him up for a dream feed and put him to bed in his moses basket in our room. This has been our routine since he was 2 weeks old and…

This weeks theme for The Gallery is a Photo I’m Proud of. Since my little one was born I’ve tried to take a photograph of him every day and posted it here. I found that the quality of my photographs wasn’t very good so recently upgraded to a Lumix G Micro System. The photographs are crystal clear and it’s taken me a while to choose just one photo of my gorgeous little man. Edward sucking his fingers (we’re still waiting for him to cut his first tooth!). This post is for Week 24 of The Gallery: A Photo I’m Proud…

My son dribbles a lot. He’s coming up to 6 months and we’re waiting for him to cut his first tooth – I can see it! To try and protect his clothes and prevent his eczema getting aggravated I’ve made him a number of dribble bibs to mop up the drool. This pic shows him wearing one in my favourite Michael Miller fabric. You can buy dribble bibs everywhere but this took 15 mins on my trusty vintage Singer! How to make a simple dribble bib: I cut a rough triangle shape from two pieces of fabric, I used a…

Today we had a rare trip into the West End. We took the little one on his first trip to the British Museum followed by his first trips to Cath Kidston and Orla Kiely – my two favourite shops! I have a real passion for Orla Kiely. I drink out of Orla Kiely mugs, I sleep amongst Orla Kiely sheets, I use Orla Kiely handbags, and travel with my Orla Kiely suitcase, wash bag and make up bags! There’s only been one occasion when I rocked up at a hotel and realised I had a number of clashing Orla Kiely…

Today I undertook my first toy drop through The Toy Society. If you’ve never heard of them before The Toy Society is a world-wide collective of toy makers – of varying skill levels– who make toys and leave them as gifts for perfect strangers. The project was started in Australia in June 2008 by a local crafter, Bianca, as an attempt to create a ‘something for nothing’ experience for anyone who discovered a toy. What started as a small personal project has now spread around the world and become known as a Random Act of Craft. I decided to make…

I recently offered to review an iPhone app for the Nigella Quick Collection. This app contains lots of recipes ideas for quick meals, laid out in 6 steps or less, and allows you to choose what to cook based on what key ingredient you have available. My little one is too young to cook with just yet (and he hasn’t enjoyed the purees I’ve slaved over) so I used the app with my three nieces, age 6, 14 and 18. They older two nieces decided to make something for dinner and the younger niece wanted to make some cakes. For…

Instead of posting a picture I’m going to re-direct you to my other blog. Just before Edward was due my husband thought it would be fun to give the baby his or her own blog , where we could post photos and let our relatives know what we were up to. Although I thought this was a great idea I didn’t want the responsibility of keeping it up to date whilst juggling a new baby! Fast forward two weeks after Edward came along and my husband had posted some pics on the baby blog when he was taken ill. He…

Last week I was lucky enough to win tickets to the first ever Vintage at Goodwood festival via a competition on the Tesco Clothing website! Vintage at Goodwood is a music and fashion led celebration of creative British cool from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s. I was VERY excited as I really wanted to go but couldn’t justify the cost with a new baby and being on maternity leave. Vintage at Goodwood Goodwood is in the middle of some beautiful countryside and after we parked up and made our way to the site we were greeted with a…
