Michelle at Mummy From The Heart hosts a great weekly meme called Reasons to be Cheerful. I’ve seen lots of bloggers join in and thought I would have a go. 1 Edward took his first step today! I really wanted this to happen before he starts nursery as I wanted to see it. Lately he’s been standing unaided for a few seconds and today he took his first step. I went a bit mad and shrieked at my husband who fortunately saw him do it too. 2 I’m off to the Save the Children Blogging conference on Saturday…

This meme has been around for a while and as nobody has tagged me (sob) I thought I would join in. So Five Things That Make Me Feel Good: 1 Putting an exhausted boy to bed because we’ve had a great day together. I love it when we’re both tired but happy. This means that we’ve had a good day, probably gone out and done something fun and created memories. 2 An empty washing basket means I’m on top of some of the domestic chores. The washing basket seems to be permanently full since Edward arrived. He’s a proper boy…

When I was pregnant a reliable baby monitor was top of my list of items to purchase. We were recommended a certain brand as part of our nursery advice at John Lewis, purchased the monitor and have used it ever since. 11 months later and Tommee Tippee have recently launched a new Digital Movement & Sound Monitor that uses Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology (DECT) offering interference free monitoring. We were sent one to try out. A key feature of this monitor is its unique sensor pad, designed to sit under the baby’s cot mattress. This monitors and sounds an alarm…

We were offered the chance to review a buggysnuggle. I don’t know if you’ve heard of them but they are basically a universal footmuff. Now, you know I’m a pram junkie and have used both Quinny and Bugaboo footmuffs but I hadn’t purchased a footmuff for my Maclaren Quest Sport so I was looking forward to trying the buggysnuggle out. When the buggysnuggle arrived I ripped the packaging off and set about putting it on our Maclaren. The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to attach to the buggy. The design means it doesn’t have to be…

We were recently offered the chance to review an iPad app called This Place is a Zoo. Edward is drawn to all our electronic gadgets and is particularly attracted to my iPhone and iPad so we were very happy to try it out. The app features Captain Wallace and you join him on a guided visit through the Alphabet Zoo. This Place is a Zoo has been designed to help children learn their alphabet and animals through sights and sounds designed to spark dialogue between parent and child. Edward is only 11 months but is drawn to moving pictures and…

One of my Day Zero goals has been to get through Edward’s teething. I noticed an increase in his dribbling at about 4 months and foolishly thought this was teething and we would soon see a tooth! How wrong was I?! I really wish someone had told me about teething as I was completely unprepared for the disruption it would bring. His first tooth finally came through at 10 months. I was surprised how hard the whole process was (and continues to be) for myself and Edward. When it started we had just begun to get into a night time…

Pampers kindly sent us tickets to attend The Baby Show, so this morning we headed down to the Excel Centre. We had a great time and managed to purchase a snooze shade which is the only item I really went looking for. The show seemed smaller than the one held at Olympia but this was a good thing as it seemed much more manageable to get round. The show was well set out and the aisles between the stalls were wide enough to accommodate buggies galore! We made good use of the Pampers changing station and found out we were…
