there was a little girl who wanted to be an archaeologist. She spent her summers digging with a small trowel in muddy fields and lived and breathed history.
The year this photograph was taken was a very special year. It was 1998 and I spent a couple of weeks on an amazing site on the Isle of Bute before I headed off to Italy for some backpacking and a 2 week stay at the British School in Rome. I had the time of my life. I was studying Ancient History and Archaeology at University and immersed myself in it all.
Fast forward 13 years and although my career isn’t over it’s definitely on hold for a couple of years. I still have my passion for history, visit castles and country houses as often as possible, and look forward to encourage a similar passion in Edward.

April 8, 2011 at 11:02 amHistory was never my favourite subject at school and I blame this on a boring teacher because since I lived in Italy I learnt so much and now love it. Archeaology has always fascinated me too but I’ll leave the digging to you 😀
