Having a little family of my own really makes me feel like a responsible adult! As soon as Big Brother was born we set up a savings account for him and we’re about to do the same for Little Sis. I must admit that my husband is in control of most of the important financial things, such as the mortgage, the bills and car insurance renewal. I’m very lucky that he deals with all these things as since giving up work my brain is quite mushy. I’d rather be responsible for the domestic side of things and ensure the cupboards…

I’ve been feeling sorry for Little Sis as virtually everything she has is second hand from her Big Brother. Last week (before she arrived!) I was sorting through bedding and blankets and found one cream blanket which had hardly been used. So I thought I would give it a bit of a makeover with some dye! I had a packet of Dylon Intense Violet dye which was suitable for hand dyeing (my husband won’t let me use dye in the washing machine yet!). After Edward was in bed I made up the dye and put the cream blanket in the…

We thought we’d finish off our Christmas shopping today so visited Brent Cross in the hope that a mid-week shop would be quiet. We were wrong and it was very busy. Big Brother visited the (free) Santa’s Grotto and we have a rather sulky photograph to show for it. While we were there I picked up some Gingerbread men biscuits in a bag from John Lewis. John Lewis seem to be stocking lots of gingerbread biscuits this year and also sell gingerbread house and heart decorations and extra large gingerbread men. The hand decorated gingerbread men biscuits are presented in…

On the sixth day of Christmas my mummy bought for me – some friends from Sylvania (a Rastamouse that sings, a 3D Puzzle, Club Penguin Gifts, fun festive crafts and a hamster dressed like royalty!) The unique, adorable range of distinctive animal figures have been delighting children (and their parents) for over 26 years! Add to your own Sylvania or start your collection with one of the many charming families to choose from. The characters, grouped into families, feature woodland creatures such as beavers, hedgehogs, mice, rabbits and bears, although in recent years, they have expanded to other animals such as…

I can’t resist looking round the food section at Ikea as I’m a fan of Swedish food. On our last visit I spotted they were selling Pepparkaka which I just had to try for myself. Each packet contains 8 pepparkaka or gingerbread biscuits, 4 x hearts and 4 x stars, for a very reasonable 90p. Each biscuit has a hole which can be threaded with ribbon and hung around the house or on the Christmas tree. We really enjoyed these biscuits. They smelt delicious, had just the right amount of spices (ingredients include ginger, clove and cinnamon). They are also…

On the fifth day of Christmas my mummy bought for me – a Rastamouse that sings! (a 3D Puzzle, Club Penguin Gifts, fun festive crafts and a hamster dressed like royalty!). It’s Day 5 of my Christmas gift guide for little ones. Irie Man! The latest cult show to take the world by storm, pre-schoolers can’t get enough of the colourful adventures of Rastamouse and Da Easy Crew. And if we’re honest – mums can’t either! Each plush has unique phrases and even sings the catchy theme song! Take a look at our review of the new plush Rastamouse from…

Difficult to believe Little Sis is one week old today. Edward is a completely lovable handful, constantly wanting to hold his sister, rock her in her chair, put dirty nappies in the nappy bin as well as being his typical toddler self. Poor Little Sister is just fitting in and going with the flow. She can often be found snoozing in her Stokke newborn chair whilst madness goes on around her. She can sleep through Edward’s noises but is wide awake in the peacefulness of the small hours! It took us a couple of days to decide on her name…
